SheafferBlack Calligraphy Pen with Fine Nib and Black Trim

I've used these calligraphy pens for over 25 years. They are easy to use and the refills are easy to insert into the pen. I only ordered more because I've moved 2X in the past 4 years and my pens are burried in a storage unit! I will not but any other pens.

These are good calligraphy pens, especially for a beginner. They are good for beginners because the new to calligraphy pens person does not have to worry about the potential mess of an open bottle or dish of ink. I have a set and gave a set to my niece. Like all calligraphy pens they take practice to use. You will get ink on your hands at first and likely later on but that is the way it is with all calligraphy pens and gets better as you get better. They are easy to load, just be sure that there is a slight click or pop. That means the cartridge is all the way in. You cannot right directly up and down with these pens but that is normal. The only drawback to these pens is that the cartridges do not come in a lot of colors and there does not seem to be a converter to use bottled. To get around I just save and clean my old cartridges and fill them with a syringe. One final thing. Some say that you cannot you these for everyday writing. I would say that depends on what you are writing. I use the fine tipped one for a lot of normal writing, journals, grocery lists, letters, etc.

I’m new to calligraphy and having better luck with tiny chisel markers made for calligraphy and with brush pens. However, there are many color cartridges to experiment with in this set. When I have been able to get the flow correct, these do well. But if I stop a few minutes it takes work to get the same flow going. Pretty and feel comfortable.

Having some experience with felt tip calligraphy pens (straight edge, not brush), I wanted to dabble in some more traditional calligraphy. These were easy to load with the included cartridges and start using right away. Loved that there were several colors of inks to play with. Used these to address Christmas cards and they turned out just lovely. Ink is not waterproof but more water and smudge resistant than another brand fountain pen I own. Would buy this brand again for fountain and calligraphy pens. Haven't yet identified which converter i would use to fill these pens with my own ink, but would be interested in trying that out in the future.

It works. I've used Sheaffer pens for a long time and I always liked them. Until now.I still like my old one. I moved the new tip into my old pen. The holes on the side of the barrel are very distracting and catch on my hand. I can't imagine why they're necessary anyway. It's nice to see the ink level, but my old pen is translucent and shows the ink cartridge without making it harder to write.One thing I really like is that /all/ the parts on both pens are completely interchangable. So, new nib in my old pen works great. I'll keep the other one around for backup.

Had this brand as a kid. I remember it wrote very well. Very well made for the price!

It takes practice to use them, to assemble them and fun to use.

I last used a Shaeffer 35 years ago when I was a kid, I have since tried other brands and always been disappointed, messy, not writing a lot of fuss. I was drawn to this set by the blue colour and that it came with 3 nibs.Once I received it I put in the medium nib and black ink and with a little press of the cartridge from the window I was away, it was so easy and the ink flowed out amazingly well, it was brilliant. So I put in the fine nib and here I was a bit disappointed as I thought it would be finer and suitable for everyday writing but wasn't the strokes are still a little large. I then tried the broad/large nib and again that was an amazing experience.Overall I am happy with the purchase, it reminds me how fountain pens should be I only wish that the fine nib was a tad finer. I think for beginners and those who have become disillusioned by bad fountain pen experiences will really enjoy this, it's perfect for kids as well.....now I'm off to fine a Shaeffer in a finer nib.

Three different nibs with twenty ink cartridges. Generous offer. Try it and then that impression will go out the window. Keep shaking the pen for ink flow, before start and even during writing. Half the ink wasted shaking the pen for ink to flow. Spoils my desk and carpet which needs to be cleaned afterwards. Returned and got the refund.

Fountain pen with medium nib arrived yesterday. It's a backup - number 2 fountain pen purchased to replace an old italic pen which was falling apart. I'm left-handed, have always used fountain pens but generally, on veer towards italic pens with a wider nib. This pen isn't tailored toward a left-handed writer, I chose a medium nib and have had no problems writing with it so far. it writes like a dream and glides smoothly across the page. This is definitely a reasonably priced keeper.

Three good quality Calligraphy pens with three widths of nib. 1.0, 1.5 & 2.0mm. A good selection of ink cartridges but, unfortunately not international standard so sheaffer cartridges necessary for extra refill. Quick delivery and not too expensive.

The pens are quite light and don't feel as such good quality as previous sets I have bought from the same maker. That said they are a genuine pleasure to write with and I use them for work every day. It depends a bit on what you need them for. Every day work (and I use them extensively) will see them life expired in about 18 months. Recommended.
