Big Red Deserves the Best, and These Bulbs Deliver!
Let me introduce you to Big Redโmy pride and joy, a 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix thatโs been with me through thick and thin. Now, Big Red isnโt just any car; heโs a classic, and like any classy gentleman, he deserves only the best. Thatโs why I couldnโt settle for anything less than these SYLVANIA 9005 SilverStar Ultra High Performance Halogen Headlight Bulbs. First off, Iโm a huge fan of Amazonโs โlike newโ products. Why pay full price when you can get something that feels brand new for a steal? These bulbs were another win in my streak of like-new purchases. They arrived in perfect condition, and the only thing that couldโve made it better is if they came with a โBig Red Approvedโ stamp. Now, as for the bulbs themselvesโuh, YASSSS! Why buy just one when you can treat Big Red to the pair he truly deserves? Installing them was like giving Big Red a fresh pair of eyes. And let me tell you, the road has never looked brighter (literally). These bulbs light up the night like Big Red is cruising straight out of a Fast & Furious movie. I donโt know whoโs happierโme, because I can see everything in crystal-clear brightness, or Big Red, because heโs got that extra swagger now. Heโs practically strutting down the street with his new lights, turning heads like the champ he is. So, if youโre on the fence about upgrading your headlights, donโt hesitate. Your car, especially if itโs as legendary as Big Red, deserves the best. And these SYLVANIA bulbs? Theyโre the high-performance cherry on top of an already sweet ride.

Great improvement. . .
These bulbs are a direct replacement for the high beams on my 2008 GMC Sierra (Denali), and they work wonderfully. By way of reference, I have had this truck for over a year, now, and have always been a bit disappointed by the performance of the stock headlights. I've been hunting for replacement (9005) bulbs for the high beams (and low beams, but that's another review) for months. I have had cars recently with Xenon headlights and wished for something comparable to that degree of brightness and down-the-road visibility. The stock headlight bulbs, though serviceable, are not on the level of what I wanted. Some other aftermarket bulbs I tried were also a disappointment, more so than even the OEM bulbs. So I decided to give these a shot. I'm glad I have these on, now. The packaging states that it can improve up to 50% over existing bulbs. I can attest to at least about a 30% improvement, if not more, in my non-scientific opinion. The best measure I have of this is the fact that the garage to my house is on an alleyway behind my and my neighbors' houses. With the stock bulbs, I could just barely see my garage door, about 5 garages down, as I turned into the alley at night. The light just didn't travel far enough. Now I can not only see my garage door, but also the three past it down the same alley. In addition, the light is whiter than the yellow light put off by the OEM halogens (though still slightly yellow in tint), so not only is the bulb brighter, but it produces a more natural light. It is not, mind you, Xenon headlight intensity or whiteness, but it's approaching that without having to spend hundreds of dollars to change out the whole headlight to an HID model, if they even exist for your application. The only slight downside is that the mounting surface on the back of the bulb that screws into the socket is slightly different from the stock bulbs and the one set of poor aftermarket replacements I tried. This made it a little more challenging to seat the new bulbs into the sockets properly, though only slightly. You may have to work with it a bit. I'm glad I found these and can't recommend them enough. Tip: When installing any headlight bulb, wear some sort of clean gloves. These lights get quite hot when on, and any skin oils that get on the bulb (e.g., fingerprints), will cause the housing to heat up and cool off unevenly and dramatically shorten the bulb life.

$40 isn't much to spend on an upgrade, even if it only lasts for 1 year
Read a lot of reviews before purchasing, and I must say I'm very happy with the decision to purchase these! They are definitely brighter than the OEMs that came on my '13 Honda Accord, and while the light is noticeably whiter, they produce just enough of the yellow spectrum to satisfy those who may still prefer the traditional color. Whiter light is the trend these days, and aside from upgrading your headlight casing/wiring to support LED, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better bulb for the original casing. And for less than $40 for the pair, they cost roughly the same as replacement OEM bulbs at the dealership. I now have these for both my low and high beam. One thing to keep in mind is that if you're replacing OEM bulbs that are 3 years old or older, obviously these are going to have more pop than you remember seeing from the old bulbs. Halogens fade over time, and the OEM halogens tend to become pretty dim by the 30-month mark if not sooner. So before relying on photos others took, realize that they are almost always comparing it to a bulb that is on its last leg. Unfortunately, I did not have a newer OEM bulb to compare it with. I haven't had these long enough to say for sure how their intensity will hold up over time, and as others have pointed out, they only come with a 1-year life expectancy under normal conditions. Honestly even if they don't last much beyond a year, I'd most likely buy them again. The ability to see road signs light up tenths of a mile sooner and to have a slightly wider area being illuminated is well worth the trade-off of shorter life. I'll post a follow-up when they get closer to the year mark, but for now, I'm definitely satisfied!

So far so good
Toyota Avalon uses Sylvania bulbs. Had issues with the poor lighting provided by the factory bulbs. Wanted to try these because Sylvania was the stock equipment that worked with my auto-beam headlights and did not interfere with the radio signal. Was unable to locate 9005 led or high intensity aftermarket bulbs that specifically identified compatability with the auto-beam system and that would not interfer with the radio. Sylvania advertises that the Ultras are brighter than their baseline bulbs and have superior down road lighting. I can verify that they are definitely brighter and whiter and definitely superior to the stock bulbs. They are not (repeat not) as white or as bright as the leds I see in the newer cars but are a great upgrade from what I had in the stock bulbs. Much better lighting at night and seem to have a much greater downroad effect for me. I have seen complaints about the longevity. I haven't had the bulbs installed for more than a few weeks. If they burn out prematurely, I'll definitely revisit this review. OK for now. Installation was easy once I located the bulb locations (one side has battery and grill semi-obstructions) and figured out how to remove from car's socket. There is a quarter turn to remove bulb or relock it into position in the light fixture. Only slightly harder to remove the bulb from its plastic socket ... wanted to take it easy and not break a prong off the side of the adaptor. This is truly a plug and play. For my car the 9005 bulbs were for driving lights and for high beams. Therefore it takes 4 bulbs all 9005s. As the heading says: So far so good. Great upgrade for me. Work fine even though not led bright.

You Light Up My Life
Changing the units was much less complicated than displayed in online tutorials. The process also has much fewer steps when compared to the old style sealed beam headlight replacement. Iโm not able to testify as to how much of an improvement in visibility Iโve gained with this upgrade (I havenโt driven at night since the installation), but I look forward to a much brighter future.

Don't buy
Do yourself a favor do not buy these and waste your money on Amazon Amazon is great for a lot of things but not these light bulbs they burn out within 3 months and there's no return policy Go to Advanced Auto if you have one next to you and for $3 you buy the product at the same cost you pay at Amazon but for the exit three bucks it's a lifetime guarantee if it blows you bring it back in new bulb please do that because I'm already going through all this BS with the bulbs I bought from Amazon Hope this helps

WOW

Surprisingly Good
Bought these to replace the standard headlights, the only problem being they don't appear to be available in Australia so I had to order them from the US Please with the end result, they are a significant improvement over standard Kia Picante headlights, we're happy
