Guitar Grimoire - Chord Scale Compatibility - Updated Edition by Adam Kadmon

Lots of good chords and scales, not too many big extensions though.
This book is great, but I expected a bunch more chords. It doesn't have 9th 11th or 13 chords it has all the sevenths but no alterations except sus 2 or 4 which is similar but not the same, and also 6 chords but no 13s. Also they didn't have any altered dominant chords. Still though, I can just take the charts as examples and make my own. Furthermore, it only gives you one scale option per chord which is baloney. If nothing else they could at least have a litlle side list. I.e.Major 7 can be played with major or Lydian but they only show major, major/minor 7 can be played with harmonic minor but they only show melodic minor ascending etc. Good start for anybody that doesn't have this stuff memorized yet, but your going to have to do some homework if you want a complete compatibility chart. Still worth it though, great for beginners. Maybe intermediate guitarists like me will be a little underwhelmed.

Great Chord and Scale compatibility book
This book is no nonsense. It just gets to the point and really gives you some awesome scales to play over certain chords, shows you your roots and your thirds and fifths etc and really gives you some outside the box thinking that would be hard to stumble across without it. Very very very cool book for it's subject matter.

I'm a fan of the Guitar Grimoire series. Great reference book for beginners and advanced players.

the language barrier
the author of this book has included so much awesome information in this book. Its really too bad that he didn't try to explain the theory involved in a clearer way. i am an intermediate level guitarist with an intermediate level knowledge of guitar theory, and i just cant seem to grasp what the heck this guy is talking about. it seems to me like he invented his own lexicon of terminology and decided not to bother to explain any of it. There are so many awesome charts in this book, but unless you can figure out what he is talking about you wont be able to learn or apply the information presented to you.

Interesting but not very imaginative.
I always fancied one of the Grimoire series books and as I know about scales and modes thought this chord scale book might teach me something. To be honest unless you are a complete beginner it is poorly written and not very imaginative. Save your money, learn the minor and major pentatonics then spend time with your guitar experimenting with chords and scales.
