**Q: made in china?**
A: Sorry, all label worn out due to heave use. China or not, it is a solid tool for the money. It will last a long time.

**Q: Can this sledge be used in similar fashion as a blacksmith's hammer?**
A: I use this hammer with large cold chisels for rock hounding so there should be no problem with using the head on hot, soft metals.  Not so sure about a fiberglass handle around a forge though.

**Q: What is the length of the of the handle?**
A: The length of the handle is 8 3/4 " from bottom of head to end of handle

**Q: Is this a good thumb detector?**
A: Not a problem although, my ST1701 gloves have a deflector shield weave in the matetial.
