Lightweight and does the job!
Was able to get a good price here for $199 so definitely worth it at that price. I'd pay full price if I had that kind of money though because this thing is pretty awesome. Removable face guard for those lighter days, fit is pretty good. Comes with a camera mount on top of the head and other fittings for your face. Overall a good purchase.

Heavy-Duty Helmet, Stylish and Powerful
I actually use this for bike commuting. After considering my choices I decided to go with this, although more expensive. It's best to have full head protection for whatever might happen.Helmets like this usually get noticed as it's stylish but also intimidating. But due to it being expensive, it's an investment you never hope to use.

Putting on chin guard takes practice!
Helmet is light and solid.Putting on the chin guard without looking in a mirror or while the helmet is on does take practice!

Its expensive but its a great helmet.
I've been ridding with this helmet for a couple months now and really like it. Its lightweight and has good ventilation. I don't notice it at all while riding which is very important to me. I am a relatively new mountain biker and I bought this helmet because I wanted a helmet that could progress with me. I like the option of being able to have the chin bar when things start to get really technical or I start to jump more but also have the option of an open face for regular trail days. Its not downhill helmet and I don't intent to use it for that as I'm not a dh rider (yet) but its a great helmet for those who want a little extra protection with out all the heft of a full dh helmet.I've only had one issue so far and that was with sizing. I already own a Bell road biking helmet in size large which fits great and has a size range of 58-62cm. Bells website list the same range for the super air r Large so that's initially what I ordered. When I tried it on I could not tighten it enough. Maybe it was a faulty tighten mechanism but I returned it for a medium and it fits much better tho its close to being to snug (not enough to bother me).I also had an issue with the seller. They removed the helmet from its original packaging and shipped it in a box the was to small. It was bulging at the sides and had no protection. It left the helmet very susceptible to damage. Luckily it appeared to be ok but I think that is extremely poor business practice as it calls in to question the authenticity and condition of the product. So while I do recommend the helmet I do not recommend the seller Gotta Ride Bikes.

not cheap, but it's fantastic
It's an investment, but damn it's nice. I was riding a different helmet and finally made the upgrade to full face. I like that I can take off the face portion when riding uphill. Quickly put it back on. Feels light on the dome.

Great helmet, but the helmet is a BRIGHT, vibrant red, not burnt orange.
Ok- this helmet rocks. been wearing it for several months now and I can say it works well, it comfortable and is now my favorite, go-to helmet, even without the chin bar on. I have another brand's full face helmet that a friend had given me that is DH certified and is a really nice helmet, but at the end of the day at the bike park, I would have a sore neck from the extra weight. What? Do more heavy metal head banging reps? Sure, one could do that, but I decided to go this route and I'm very happy.I normally ride a lot of local trail with the occasional 3' high x 8' gap, but I've been venturing more into the bike park stuff (6' high 12' table tops) in the last year so I wanted something lighter for getting out to the bandit trail features. I also rarely crash head first into anything (I got the tuck/roll thing down) so I figured this would fit the bill for the royal screw ups, even without the full DH certifications.Last thing - it had been a while since I owned a Bell helmet and the helmet forehead pad had some sweat guides to channel the sweat away from the eyes- it was a great feature. I was disappointed to see that this helmet doesn't have anything like that. What this forehead pad does is slowly fills with sweat until max saturation and then dumps drops perfectly on the my riding glasses. This happens on hot, high 80's days way more often than the cooler days, but is still an annoyance. It is on par with all of my other current helmets, so I'm not dinging it any stars. I just wish it was like my older Bell. Also - This seller's "red' helmet looks more like a burnt orange than the actual red that I got. I had a suspension that this was going to be the case (see Bell's website for the true color) but was half hoping for the orange color- nope! BRIGHT red. It still looks cool and I needed the quick delivery, so I'm still good.

Just as comfortable as a road bike helmet.
I put a Bafang BBS02 motor on my Rans Recumbent. Average speed for this Class 3 ebike is about 22 MPH. Going down the mountains, gravity takes her into the 30s and I have maxed out twice at 43. My simple Schwinn road bike helmet is not going to give my face and chin any protections at those speeds.I tried a cheap full face helmet but the sizing and comfort were all wrong. Then I decided to get the Bell 3R but the buckle and strap system looked exactly the same as my $20 Schwinn helmet from Wal-Mart. It seemed over priced. Fortunately the 3R was sold out everywhere and the Super R Air was available and in a decent color. The Super Air R is also lighter than the 3R.I was still expecting a tight and heavy helmet but I was loosing my nerve on some of the hills and wanted a better helmet.Bottom line; This is just as comfortable as a road bike helmet. It is only a little heavier but the perfect fit makes up for it and you will not notice the weight. The only intrusion into my field of view is a little bit of the chin guard and the visor. My first ride tonight was 32 miles and spent 2 1/2 hours with it on even during breaks. You forget it is there.I always wear a dew rag under my helmets to keep the bugs out of my hair and in the winter I wear a fleece skull cap. Both fit nicely with this helmet. The removable chin guard works OK but I spent the money on this so I could have full face protection. The chin guard is never coming off.

Great comfortable safe helmet
I bought this helmet about eight months ago now and had a lot of use out of it. The helmet is really comfortable and I feel safe that if I come off and hit my head it will do its job well. I love that it can be used as a full face or just as a normal helmet and it is easy to attach and release as I use full face on the trails and just helmet on the roads. There is one negative issue I have encountered and that is the removable sweat inserts that you can remove to wash, the material attached to the foam has peeled off, it can still be used but this should not happen on such an expensive helmet. I would recommend this helmet as I have been very happy with it.

As promised, it's light and the removable chin guard works well. This review is mainly on sizing.
You can watch youtube reviews on the helmet to talk about features, and that's all true. The main thing I wanted to talk about is fit. I've owned Bell helmets before and know that they generally match my head shape, and thankfully this one continues with that shape. My head measurement was right in between a Med and Lrg. I was able to try on a Med at the LBS but they didn't have a Lrg on hand. While the Med did fit, it felt just a touch on the snug side to the point that it probably would have been uncomfortable over the length of a ride. I hit the web and ordered a Lrg hoping that the adjustable Float Fit band would size it down well enough to be comfortable. After receiving the helmet in Lrg and putting a few rides on it I'm super happy with it. Even though I'm at the bottom of the Lrg size range it fits great, really comfortable, and stays in place well. After that it's just a great helmet, really light and versatile.Long story short, if your head measurement falls in the mid range of the recommended sizing from Bell, take that size, it will fit correctly. But if you fall in between like me, size up and you'll be happy with that.
