DormCo The College Cube - Desk Bookshelf - White Color

Maybe it’s because I’ve put together a lot of furniture, or maybe I just happened to get a good batch, but I thought that this shelving was super easy to put together. I had no issues with misaligned holes or pieces too long or too short. The only issue that I would say might be an issue for some, is that the kit came with a flat head screwdriver instead of a Phillips screwdriver which is, what do you need to put this piece together. It was nice that the company sent along a Flat Head, but it was useless. I do have several Phillip’s screwdrivers at my house so it wasn’t an issue for me. Just wanted to point that out in case you don’t have one. It also comes with little round covers to fill the holes of the screws, etc., so that’s a nice finishing touch.I built it before move in day so it was one less thing we had to do when we got to my daughter’s dorm, and I think it looks cute on her desk and provides more places for storage which she desperately needs in her small dorm room. Overall very pleased with this product.

Going into a dorm, we knew my daughter would need space on her desk. We purchased this hutch and we have no regrets! It is sturdy, it does not wabble, and let’s not forget convenient. The shelves allows her to put her personal stuff in and the space between the desk and the first shelf is great! She can open her computer perfectly and even has a lamp under as well. Beautiful purchase

I like the size but it’s particle board. Must have two people to hold pieces while the other attaches it so the pieces do not pull screws out of particle board. We made it work by reinforcing screws and partitions with glue and a couple small braces. Wish it came in other colors other than white.

We ordered the DormCo College Cube/Desk bookshelf for our daughter who was starting College. My wife and I loaded into the car and travelled to her University and dorm room, and I, being a confident quasi-handiman, started to put it together. As I pulled out the pieces, I notice a first peice with a small chip in it, but thought, no problem, I may be able to face this piece up/down so it cant be seen. A second piece was pulled out with a chip, and eventually a third piece. Nevertheless, I though I could deal with the small chips and continued.Of course, being old school, I pulled out the printed directions and commenced organizing the pieces, ready to lunch into the assembly process. For about 15 minutes I was scratching my head, trying to resolve the directions with what I saw in front of me. It turns out the pieces do not match the directions. So, again, I can handle this by looking at the assembled picture and think my way through it. No luck. Then my wife suggest (perhaps the obvious), look at a video of someone assembling this model. We did so, it also had pieces that did not match ours. At this point, I had wasted 30-45 minutes trying to find some semblance that can be used to succesfully put this thing together. We had more things to do so I decided to give up. My time is too valuable to waste on a flawed product like this. We are now returning it and looking for another option for my daughter.In short, there is a quality control issue with this product / company. I cannot speculate if my experience is a "one-off" situation or not. If there are more reviews for this product indicating the same things I have noted here, then you may have sufficient evidence to conclude the scope of the quality control issue. For us there was "no joy".

Bought for my Goddaughter's dorm room. She loves it. It isn't too big for such a small space and is efficient for storing her books and other items around her desk.

I mean it works and it looks fantastic on my desk in my room. But the material is very fragile. The screws didn't really stay in and it was kind of hard to put it together because the screws weren't sturdy. And also the paint chips easily. But hey, it looks great when it's all put together and it holds all of my heavy items with no problems.

assembled before we went to dorm. box was slightly damaged but packaging kept shelves from being damaged. very pleased and will purchase again for daughter if son still needs his.
