Sharpe Series - a must for anyone interested European military history.
I'm a big fan of Bernard Cornwell so took a chance on the Sharpe series and I wasn't disappointed. They are easy reads based in part on actual events. The nice thing about Cornwell, he provides a Historical Note section at the end of each book where he tells the reader what events and characters are factual and which are not. Thanks to Cornwell I have a much better grasp of significant military events that shaped England, Europe and beyond.

Such superb novels!
Had always loved the TV series with Sean Bean, so getting into these novels was not hard at all. They are beautifully written with fantastic characters and very well researched historical scenarios for Sharpe to fight in.This set is the first ‘in Chronological order’* and explores his rise from Private up to becoming an officer. They won’t match 100% with the TV series, but what books ever do. But everything to love about Sharpe is there.Great novels, can’t wait to get stuck into more.

My husband says you can't beat a Bernard Cornwall novel.
I have been waiting so long to collect the whole 21 books by my husband's birthday and finally got them all on Amazon under the same cover style. He has always wanted to read to whole series and loves this writer. He says his historical attention to detail combined with a great fictional adventure story makes for such good readings. He will be very happy to have a matched full collection to add to the rest of his collections of Mr Cornwall's books.

A very good story
Strangely this book goes to the time when Sharpe rescues Wellesly (Soon to be Wellington)which is very different to the film series.
