Great product pending the user
This works great as long as you have some common sense. It is plastic. That should tell you to run your drill slowly while mixing. As to the other review that states "they were covered in paint"... I find this hard to believe. Once you snap the lid on the paint container it is sealed. I did place my fingers on top of the two covers as a just in case but all the paint stays in the can. If you're painting multiple colors at one time I recommend buying one for each can. It remains sealed, when you get ready to paint you just run your mixer for about a minute and pour what you need. It really does work great, and after I had it on a can for 4 days it cleaned up pretty easy. Your drill doesn't have to spin at high speed to mix paint. If you think it should then maybe you need buy metal. It is convenient, mess free, and saves you from pulling a lid and mixing everytime you need more paint.

What a great, simple, useful thing
Wow. What a great, simple useful thing. Stir the paint in the can, pour out what you need, cap it. Throw out the can lid.UPDATE: I've been using these for several months working with latex paints. I still love it. When paint in the can gets down to about 1/3, the air space does allow a little drying/thickening, I'm sure it would be the same just in the can. I've noticed it takes more vigorous stirring at that point to get it smooth and even, but that's simple with the built in stirrer. The lesson here may be for me to move a little faster! This is a great thing for active painting, but I think to keep some paint for touch up work, it's better to pour some into an appropriate sized container.

Money saver
Between this stirrer and filter bags I wad able to save 20 year old paint so that I could "touch up" and not have to completely repaint my kitchen.

I was hoping
I ordered two....But realistically the product is okay and just okay, but it's cheap enough to try. It would be a great product if not made of low grade plastic. I was going to give it 2 starts due to the description but giving it 3 cause i should of read the lid. If you have a drill that only spins at 400rpm's give it a try.The goodIt fits a gallon perfectly and makes a good seal. The badThe description says high speed paint mixer??? That it is not. It is a low to med speed. I should of read the top first. I used the slowest drill I had and it looked like the paint exploded on me..well it did... and the plastic snapped on the chuck. The uglyJust look at the pictures. Clean up is going to be a pain.

Great for Mixing Fire Retardant Gel
I live in a heavily forested area near Mt. Hood, Oregon. The threat of forest fires is increasing yearly, and one of the best defenses to that threat (aside from creating defensible space around the house) is fire retardant gel, which is to be applied by a garden hose when a fire is coming your way. The stuff is amazingly effective, but has one major drawback - it has to be agitated regularly - best if at least once every six months. If it is not agitated, it will not go on correctly and provide the required protection. This paint-mixing can setup is ideal for taking care of an otherwise very difficult job. The paint stirrer is strong and effective. Highly recommend this for agitating the fire retardant gels!

I wish it was made better!
I used it on a half can of paint and it worked okay, but not great. The second can was almost full. The cover didn't seal well and paint was spilling. Then the adapter to the shaft stripped. I removed the adapter and went directly to the shaft and it was starting to strip as well and the seal of the shaft failed and got paint all over my drill. Took an hour to clean and couldn't get it all off. This was a good concept, but cheap plastic junk! Wish I had tried it earlier and returned it.

The lid did not fit tight.
I used the LID/STIR on Minwax brand stain. The lid did not fit tight at all. The can was full when I started and I knew it was going to be bad, but I still tried it. It was bad. Spillage, and lots of it. I then emptied about 3 cups out of the can and tried again. It was still bad. I was pouring into a small squeeze bottle. While I felt I had control of the stain going into the bottle, it was spilling out of the can where the lid should be holding it in. The stain looked to be mixed very well. If the lid would have fit tight. This would have been 4 or 5 stars. It is all plastic which I don't see as a problem as long as you start slow and build speed gradually. The directions say a max speed of 450 RPM.

One of the best
I hate drippy paint cans and lids that won't go back on, and so I've tried about every paint lid on the Market. The Mixing Mate is pretty good, but it's hard to clean and fiddly, especially compared to this mixer. The mixer mixes well, the lid snaps on tight enough but you don't have to struggle to get it on or off. It has a pour hole and a vent hole, and each has a lip to help pouring. It it's cheap enough to just leave it on the paint can rather than clean to reuse every time. My only gripe is that I lost the vent spout lid and can't find a replacement. I plan to buy more of these.
