Great replacement!
I specifically chose this vertical mouse to minimize the impact to my wrist. I spend quite a bit of time using this and have no pain. Also the sizing chart available made choosing the correct size a value add! I have been using the mouse for two weeks now and enjoy it completely. Easy to pick up and move (doesn’t slip out of my hand). You will want to download the software for the device, to get it to work correctly. My experience was with Windows 11. Recommend this device highly.

For this price they should use better switches
I bought my second Evoluent mouse in late 2020. I loved that first mouse but the left click button had begun double clicking. Fast forward to the end of 2022 and now the second mouse was failing in the same way two years later. Rather than pay over $100 for a third mouse, I pulled the mouse apart and looked up the switch they used. I found that the switch for the left click used in this mouse is rated at 8 million clicks, which sounded good until I saw that this is pretty much at the low end of life expectancy for mouse buttons. I ordered a replacement from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09JRWSFRY rated for 50 million actuations) for $3.50 per switch retail delivered - probably an extra $0.05 in cost to Evoluent at manufacturing volumes. It would seem that a high end boutique brand of mouse sold for multiples of the competitors price could spring for an extra nickel to make their product last. In any case, I bought the switch, and replaced it with very low end soldering skills. The hardest part of the operation was getting the shell of the mouse apart.

Can be fiddly.
I almost threw this in the trash due to frustration but decided to see if I can troubleshoot it one more time. Re-installed the drivers, fresh batteries, and fiddled with lots of settings while reading a lot of forums and sites to find out what the problem was. I finally found it when I changed the position of the USB dongle so that it was on the front.I connected it to a cable then moved it closer to where the mouse was and lo and behold! The mouse is peachy as pie. Worth all the trouble because traditional mice just doesn't give the comfort that vertical mice do. At least for me, the positioning is better. I got the small version since I have small hands and so that it doesn't fatigue my hand while I'm working. It IS pretty slippery until your hands get 'sweaty' and that's when you get enough grip so that you're not clutching it super tight, which can make your arm hurt and tired fast. I'm just glad I got it working. That, and it's hilarious watching the husband rage as he gets used to it.

Fixed my wrist pain
Background: I have been using the wireless, right hand version of this mouse for 6 monthsI suffered with bad wrist pain for a long time due to being a software engineer who is on a computer all day. This in conjunction with a new apple Magic Keyboard completely fixed my issues. 100% would recommendThe only downside is, like others have mentioned, the tracking is not super accurate. You might move the mouse a little and it could jump over what you are trying to click on but I have not found it to be a deal breaker

Wrist or Elbow Pain is Eliminated...Better Than VM4
For years, I used a wired mouse with weights I could add or remove to adjust feel. It was fine but too heavy and inaccurate.I then moved to a Logitech MX Master 2 wireless, which was outstanding in every way...except ergonomically it was horrible. The muscles on the outside of my elbow began hurting. I knew I needed a new mouse.I initially settled on the Logitech MX vertical. However, after more research, I found the angle of the Logitech when holding it to be 57 degrees, not 90.The key to reducing pain was to keep your hand, while using the mouse, in a natural handshake position with your thumb on top and pinky finger on bottom. The only mouse that does this was the Evoluent brand. They have several models, but their most popular appears to be the the VM4.Their newest model, the one I'm reviewing, is the VMD. They also have a "C" version. All models come in small, medium and large. Medium hands are considered to have less than 7.8 inches from tip of middle finger to the crease in your wrist. On their website. they have a template you can print to size up your hand.My hand measured 7.75 inches.I started with the VM4R medium size wired model and used this for several days. The pain was immediately reduced and almost eliminated entirely. This mouse does work for those in pain.I also ordered their newest variant in large size - the VMDLW model. This model was wireless.I ordered large because at 7.75, I was borderline between the M and L and wanted to compare it to the medium VM4.Vertical mice take some time in which to acclimate yourself. You will be frustrated at first, but quickly get used to how it feels.Precision is the hardest thing to master, but it does come. The Evoluent software can customize each button on the mouse, but I kept mine simple. The difference between the 4 and the D was:the D had a higher quality build;wireless was less clutter and allowed for better precision movement of the mouse;the tips of the buttons have carve-outs that help keep your fingers in place;and the scroll wheel was smoother.I am glad I went with the D version and the large size. This helps me hold the mouse better.Overall, Evoluent has a really good, quality ergonomic mouse that worked for me.Update:Comments about the "glossy" finish in some reviews I have read. True, this mouse is not rubberized. However, I have no issue maintaining control and my hand does not get sweaty at all. Maybe if you sweat heavily, the gloss feel may not appeal.UPDATE - Oct 17, 2020Still give this mouse a 5-star. Love it. NO WRIST PAIN. Glossy surface not an issue at all. Still on original battery and I use it 50 hours per week.

New Favourite
Due to arthritis, RSI and general wrist flex discomfort, I researched vertical mice and bought both this and the Logitech MX Vertical Ergo one. Both are comfortable, but this has the edge because it actually fits my hand perfectly and all the extra programmable buttons are in natural reach. You don't have to change your grip, the buttons are where you'd put them yourself. Aesthetics wise, they're as ugly as can be, but you don't buy them for looks. The programmable buttons - by app if you wish - allow you to add shortcuts, making navigation and editing a doddle. And this software makes paying the premium price worth it. It just streamlines everything.I use CorelDRAW and Photoshop extensively, and the precision this mouse offers is excellent. The glossy mirrored surface is questionable and a fingerprint magnet, though. The weight is just right, I like that you can use a standard AA battery. You don't have to worry about it failing and having to charge it every 5 minutes like with my Logitech MS Master1 & 2 after a couple of years of hard usage. It is expensive, but you invariably get what you pay for, as is the case here. You also get storage for the USB dongle - you can connect several ways, under the battery cover, which has been a niggle with the Logitech that they refuse to address. For crying out loud, it's a no brainer to make it harder to lose. The overarching thing with a mouse like this at this price is is it worth it? 3 months in, I can categorically answer that with a resounding yes. And the RSI, arthritis, little finger numbness has gone. Not only is it a great mouse for alleviating pain, but it's a precision pointer for work and streamlining tasks. Works brilliantly for browsing too and general computing. If anyone's on the market for a mouse in this price range, particularly in the creative arena, I'd recommendthis mouse whether you have wrist pain or not.

Stylish comfy ergo mouse
I've tried a few ergo mice. For my particular problem of a twitchy index from many hours hammering the LMB to shoot at pixels on less ergo mice, it's not best suited - for that, nothing beats the 3M with the thumb click button. On this mouse, the thumb buttons are too far apart and require too much travel to be useful alternatives (maybe you can keep it close to one of them). You also need to use Xmouse to reconfigure the buttons because the evoluent driver isn't very configurable. This mouse is like most ergonomic mice, specifically for keeping the hand straight upright to prevent you twisting your tendons and causing my sort of condition in the first place. This is a really comfy, luxurious, solid-feeling mouse. It's heavy but glides well, has such a good-feeling grip position and rest to keep your smallest digit dragging on the mouse mat. Despite it being smooth (read that as won't wear out in 5 mins or get quite as grubby) you won't easily lose grip of it. If I do play games with it, it loses out a bit, and I think that's mainly down to weight and sensitivity - I think the laser resolution would need to be higher on it. You won't manage long gaming sessions with it. I use a number of different mice, and switching to this one, it always catches me that there are 3 buttons plus the mousewheel button combo - and it catches out software too (I had to reset the middle button in some games because it didn't seem to be configured). The magnetic battery compartment panel is very novel. Although I think there are cheaper ergos out there that are functionally equivalent, they don't have the same feel of quality as this - dare I call it a manager's mouse? :D

Very high quality vertical mouse
I own 2 of these now, one for work, one for home. They're very helpful with my RSI. The build quality matches the price, I especially liked the magnetic battery compartment cover (no plastic tabs to break off). The build quality has improved greatly since the VerticalMouse C.Despite feeling premium, it's not heavy: most of the mass is in the battery. The driver software is not mandatory, but the buttons are mapped weirdly without it. It's not resource intensive, and it's very useful. I especially like the dedicated settings tab to expose the Excel horizontal scroll feature. The text on that page could do a better job of explaining that turning it on will affect ALL buttons when using Excel, not just the horizontal scroll button.Battery life is excellent, and it's nice it takes the more common 1xAA instead of multiple AAAs. I like that it comes with a AA battery in the box. Also in the box is a USB extension cable (Type A male to Type A female) to help reposition the dongle. The only way they could make it better would be to use a free spinning scroll wheel like Logitech MX has for some of their mice (not the vertical one sadly). The Evoluent driver software can do a similar thing where if you scroll faster it scrolls more lines, but it's not as good. If they released a new model with a free spinning scroll wheel I'd immediately buy two.

Comfortable but doesn't work with Mac
It's nice to use, gets sweaty very easily, the app to configure the buttons does not work on Mac, they don't have the drivers set up. Other companies have done this fine, so not sure why they can't get hold of Mac.They suggest using a 3rd party software but given the cost of this item, this should be a full package. The material makes your hand sweat quite a bit but it is comfortable unlike the Logitech MX Vertical which was painful.

Nice and comfortable, but bad sensitivity
BUY a USB cable version, if you want accuracy! I decided to bite the bullet and go for this expensive mouse, because my hand was getting worse and worse working CAD. While the mouse is nice and comfortable, it did took some time to get used to and the worse bit - sensitivity is poor. Tried all the tricks recommended by the Evoluent and the internet, even was going through days of discomfort thinking that it is just me having to retrain muscles. Evoluent even replaced the mouse, but was having same problem. To no luck. Mouse went into the drawer, as it was too late to return. UNTIL I shared my experience with a fellow CAD engineer and he lent me his old Evoluent USB version. What a difference, mouse is much more responsive, sensitive and a real pleasure to use. And that was a 15years old older version of this. All in all, save the hassle and get a cable version. This USB version is just not up to the task, especially when one spends so much money on one.
