I remember my parents listening to Bing Crosby. I was too young to appreciate what a wonderfully soothing voice he had.Well worth the money and a lovely trip down memory lane. I'm a child again 😉

This has brought a lot of pleasure to my husband who has dementia

I bought this for my dad who is 76 and a big Bing fan I wasn't sure if he would know the songs on the CD but he knew 90% of them and loved it so I would recommend it on his behalf

Very pleased with the cd . You are my sunshine is a favourite tune of my husband who has had a servere stroke and hums to this.

Yes, there are lots of public domain compilations out there of much of this material. But at current marketplace prices (at the time of writing as low as 98p plus postage) this has to be the cheapest option for a broad swathe of Crosby hits in guaranteed good sound, as it issued by Universal.The set includes most of his biggest 30s and 40s hits, and it might have been preferable to restrict it to that - the double CD A Centennial Anthology Of His Decca Recordings does that job very well, for example - but it is currently a lot pricier on marketplace (around fifteen pounds). Here, however, you get a smattering of other recordings, from the fifties and even a few from a late surge in the seventies, though as Bing's easygoing style was more or less set by the time of the earliest track on this compilation (1934), this jumping back and forwards across the years from track to track is less jarring than you might expect. Still mildly annoying, so I'll dock this collection one star.For a complementary collection of the earlier recordings when, in Digby Fairweather's words, Bing had "all the ardour of Jolson but ... sang with much more taste and technique" try the two volumes of Classic Crosby on Naxos, currently very cheap indeed on marketplace, and the sound is acceptable. There are already some enthusiastic and informed reviews on the relevant pages, and the sides may prove a revelation if you only know his established style.

◆ B.Crosby(vo)w.Orchestras cond.by Georgie Stoll,Buddy Bregman,Vic Shoen,Victor Young,Gordon Jenkins,Morris Stoloff,John Scott Trotter,Jimmy Dorsey,Matty Malneck,Bob Haggart,Russ Morgan,Axel Stordahl etc…【Rec.c.1934-77】♪勝手な思い込みに過ぎなかったのだが、ビング生誕100周年記念(?)の2枚組ベストということと、その品格に満ちたジャケの雰囲気とで、レア・フォト満載の分厚いブックレットの付いた豪華なパッケージを想像していたら、これがとんだ肩すかし。ごくシンプルな三つ折りのリーフレットが封入されてるだけで、写真もたった1枚きり―解説だってほんの申し訳程度だ…♪おまけに“商品の説明”には、RCA や EMI 等に残した音源云々―という件りがあるが、実のところは DECCA や Verve、Polydor、英 DECCA といったユニヴァーサル傘下のレーベルへの録音しか(?)入っていない。さらにゝ吹き込み時期が40年以上にも亘るのに、クロノジカルな順番でもなんでもなくて、“1947→1977→1941”てな具合…ビングがその晩年期まで殆ど変わらぬ美声の持ち主だった分、確かにかなり聴き易くなってはいるが―♪とまぁ色々ケチはつけたが、1つだけ良い点がある―そう矢鱈とオトがいいのだ!!手持ちの盤のダブりトラックで比較してみるに明らかにクリアー。むろん古い音源にはそれなりのノイズも入るが、音にちゃんと芯があるっつーのか、その艶やかなバリトン・ヴォイスがくっきりと鮮やかに浮かび上がってくる!!♪そんな訳で処分しようにもしづらい困ったコンピ盤であるww
