Less than 1/16" cork, 99% Cardboard.
Standard Thumbtacks go through the entire "cork" board. The frame is so flimsy that I had to remove the frame and put the frame from my old cork board on this one. When I took the frame off though, I got to see what this product is made from, and it is 99% cardboard with an extremely thin layer of "cork" covering the cardboard. The cork is not even 1/16" thick. If you try to hang anything heavier than a piece of paper, the thumbtack will bend down and fall out since there is nothing behind the thin cork layer to hold the pin straight.Complete waste of money. DO NOT BUY

Perfect for the job...
I bought this, not for hanging on the wall, but for assembling jigsaw puzzles. I needed something to put on my dining table to do the puzzles, but easily move when we needed to use the table for other things. I looked at dedicated puzzle accessories, but found nothing I liked. I don't remember the thought process that brought me to cork boards, but it was a great idea! I put several large self-adhesive felt pads on the back and now have a wonderful surface for my puzzles. When I need my table cleared, I just put everything puzzle-related on the board and set it on the spare room bed. It's great!!!

Cork too thin to hold items!
At first I thought this bulletin board was great even when items I'd tried to pin on it kept falling off. At first I thought it was me not pushing the pins in far enough. Then I thought it must be dull pins. But when nothing helped, I looked at it closely and saw the cork is so thin (maybe 1/16"?) that pins can't go in far enough to hold anything well on the board. They hit the hard backing almost immediately and then want to bounce out. Beats me why Mead goes to all the trouble of producing such a nice looking wood framed board and then not applying a thick enough cork on the surface to make it actually usable.

Cheap
It's a thin layer of cork with cardboard backing. A thumbtack goes all the way through and pokes a hole in my wall. If I could give it 0 stars I would.

Not true to listed size.
Item is listed as a 2 foot by 3 foot board but measured 23.5 inches by 35.5 inches over all. Cork portion is even smaller.

Undersized and cheaply made.
Be aware: It's advertised as 18"x24" but it's actually 17"x23". (I have a nice frame I found in a garage sale that I was planning on transferring it to instead of the cheap aluminum one, but this board it too small for it.) Also, the backer board is nothing but cheap corrugated cardboard, so I don't expect it will hold up very long with repeated pinning. I wasn't expecting solid cork for this low price, of course, but cardboard? Really.

Great board, weird smell
Great size, sturdy frame, and easy to hang on the wall. My one complaint is that this thing smells so bad! I actually thought a cat peed in the room or my husband left boy sweat puddles somewhere. Nope, it's the cork. Left it outside to air out for a few days and the corkboard warped from the heat (that was my bad) and still stinks. Going to give it some time to see if it goes away.

Not very thick
Board looks OK until you put a push pin on the board. I noticed from the back that the panel was coming apart since the push pin was going right through the cork board if you pin notes on the board straight in. In order to preserve the back from not being punctured, you'll have to pin paper to the board at a steep angle. I've used other cork board before and could push the pins straight in without any issues. The thickness is extremely thin, which is very disappointing, since the oak finish looks very professional.
