Issues in Australia (and likely other countries with switched power outlets)
My husband and I used this adapter on a 4-week trip to Australia, where the outlets are switched (i.e., each outlet has a switch at the outlet to turn power to that outlet on or off). Since the adapter is large, the switch gets in the way, and the adapter could not be plugged in completely and often needed to be propped up to stay in place once something was plugged into it. We ended up buying a power strip and plugging the adapter into the power strip.Once we got the power strip, the adapter worked fine. I liked that we could charge our phones via the USB ports in addition to another item that needed to be plugged in (e.g., camera battery charger or electric toothbrush charger).

Excellent, Versatile Product, EXCELLENT Customer Service
This is an excellent product, with EXCELLENT customer service. I had a lot of questions about this product, especially after reading a review of a competing product that had a safety issue, and I wanted to make sure this product didn't have the same issue. After I posted some questions on Amazon, Roger of Pac2Go personally sent me a couple of emails to clarify what I was asking about, and tested the product with a voltmeter to make sure his product did have this issue. (That issue is described here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3MV91M2VJPB32 and it's common to several "universal" travel adapters.)I received the product very quickly, and just for the fun of it did my own test to make sure it's safe. It is!Limitations:Although the device accepts 3-prong grounded ("earthed") plugs, it does NOT provided a connection to the ground in the outlet (if there is one). This is an understandable compromise, since a "universal" adapter with grounding plugs would be hard to make and very bulky, and it's not needed for many, many devices (e.g., electric shavers, hair dryers, more USB chargers, etc.). This isn't a criticism; it's just a description of what they device is and what it's not. For example, my laptop has a grounded plug, so I'm not going to use this with my laptop. If your laptop just has a two-pronged plug, there should be no problem using it with this adapter. Also, note that this device does NOT convert voltage. If you live in a 110-volt country and travel in a 220-volt country (or the other way around), you need to check your devices to see if they can work with both voltages. Most -- but NOT ALL -- things people commonly travel with are dual-voltage devices that will with fine with this adapter. Most electric shavers and most laptops (but see the note on laptops above) will adjust automatically. Some hair dryers have a 110/220 voltage switch, so you can travel with it but you have to put the switch in the right position or you'll destroy it. Of course, there are exceptions -- most electric shavers I've owned are dual-voltage, but the one I'm using now isn't. (Most USB chargers are dual-voltage and will adapt automatically, but this has a built-in dual-voltage dual-USB charger, so you won't need to bring your USB charger unless you want to charge more than two USB things at a time.)PROs:1) One single compact device that serves as both a dual USB charger *AND* a plug adapter for 2-prong devices/outlets almost everywhere in the world, including both 110-volt countries (North and Central America, Caribbean, Japan, Taiwan etc.) and 220-volt countries (Europe, Middle East, most of Africa, most of Asia. You can leave your USB charger at home and just take one of these, and use it both at home and while traveling.2) All plugs retract or fold so they won't punch holes in your bag or get caught on things. It also comes with a little case that will protect it from dust, etc., and also make sure it doesn't get caught on things.3) Unlike many travel chargers, the USB charger *IS* strong enough to charge a high-current device like an iPad. (I tested this with an actual iPad.)4) The outlet accepts pretty much any type of plug, except I think the "big" South Africa plug. If you buy a device when you are traveling, you should be able to use this with both your home devices and your other devices.5) The plugs for different countries are NOT connected internally, which is a safety feature (the issue mentioned above).5) A 6-amp fuse is included, to protect both whatever device you plug into it, and the built-in USB charger.6) An on-board spare fuse, in case the fuse blows. (But don't just change the fuse and use it the same way again!)CONs:1) Description claims surge protection, but traditional surge protections specs (clamping voltage, joules of suppression) seem to be unavailable. The fuse will protect your devices from a current surge, but (maybe?) not a voltage surge.2) Although the adapter does NOT provide a grounded connection to the outlet, the device will accept 3-prong grounded plug, which might lull a naive user into a false sense of security.Bottom line: This is an excellent device, and I highly recommend it if you are planning to travel internationally with USB-chargeable devices (cell phones, etc.) and two-prong devices. I suggest not using it with devices that have grounded plugs.UPDATE: The seller's web page, with more product info, is here: http://www.pac2go.com

Great product and customer service
I purchased this adapter for a month-long trip to Europe. When I received the adapter, I tested it to make sure it was working fine, which it did (obviously, I couldn't test the international plugs but the U.S. plug had no problems and powered my devices just fine). However, I noticed that the adapter made a very faint humming noise that was barely audible. I've noticed a similar noise on regular usb adapters and I'm sure it's not a major issue. Nonetheless, I reached out to Pac2Go about the noise since I didn't want any issues with it while traveling, and also asked them to replace my product. They replied with an explanation of the noise, stating that it is normal on some adapters, and they also sent me a new version, without requesting the old one back. The new one also worked fine, but didn't have the noise. I thought this was great customer service on their part. While traveling I used the adapter to charge my phone through the USB outlet, and to charge my camera's battery through the regular power outlet, sometimes charging both at once. The adapter worked perfectly fine throughout the trip and I didn't experience any problems with it at all.One thing to note: Although the adapter is fairly compact, it was still large enough that it didn't properly fit in outlets that were in corners or near awkward angled surfaces.Overall, I would highly recommend this product.

the two USB ports proved very useful for charging my camera battery and Kindle reader at ...
I used this adapter during a 2 month trip in China and Taiwan and it worked very well. It's cleverly designed, compact, and appears to be made with quality materials. It has surge, spike, and overcharge protection which many other adapters do not offer. Additionally, the two USB ports proved very useful for charging my camera battery and Kindle reader at the same time that my laptop was being charged.Perhaps the best reason to buy this adapter though is for the excellent support. When I first tried using the adapter in Shanghai, I was confused by the instructions on Pac2Go's website about which plug to use. I called the support number and while waiting for a connection realized it was 2 am in the USA. Before I could hang up someone answered the phone! It was Roger Brinkley of Pac2Go who was working late. Despite the time, Roger was very gracious and eager to lend assistance, eventually helping me to figure out which plug to use.FYI: If traveling in China and the electrical outlet looks like the one in the picture below, then you should use the EU plug and insert it into the top two bowler hat shaped outlets. Roger said I could have also plugged the USA/AUS into the same two outlets though I didn't try doing so.

NOT AS DESCRIBED!
Purchased this for a recent overseas trip, and bought a hairdryer under 1200 watts as recommended in the product description. It blew the original fuse the very first time I used it with a hair dryer. When I tried using it with the backup fuse, it burned my hair straightener. The backup fuse blew when I tried using the blow dryer again. I now have to replace my hair straightener and this adapter (from another seller obviously). Contrary to the seller's description of the product, it does not work for any kind of hair appliance. It only works for USB charging (for which there are much less expensive options).
