Feel better, get well sooner
This book stunningly describes what could prove to be the biggest story of the century in human health: the incredible effectiveness of high-dose intravenous ascorbic acid (vitamin C) against all forms of oxidative stress from toxins and pathogens, including all viruses and many bacteria as well as a wide range of poisons and pollutants. The Foreword describes dosages of 30 to 200 grams (or more) per day intravenously for acute inflammations or infections, and 4 to 20 grams per day for basic health maintenance.Chapter 7 explains that there is no known toxic dosage level for vitamin C. The human body generally tolerates it extremely well. In fact, chapter 3 explains that nearly all mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians have extremely high levels of vitamin C in their bloodstreams, produced naturally by their own bodies, and the level increases greatly in response to bodily and environmental stresses. The most well known exceptions are guinea pigs and the higher primates, including man. Yet even the primates and man nevertheless still have all the essential genetic factors needed for natural internal vitamin C synthesis, but for unknown reasons one particular gene in man doesn't operate to produce a key enzyme needed for vitamin C synthesis in the body. Apparently there was an unidentified genetic mutation of some kind during the course of evolution. So far, no one knows why such a mutation would have occurred or how it could have provided a survival advantage allowing the mutation to become as pervasive among humans and a few other species as it apparently is today. Most animals produce their own vitamin C in huge quantities in their own bodies. As a home remedy, the biggest problem with intravenous ascorbic acid has been that most people don't want to give themselves intravenous treatments or injections, and they usually don't have the necessary materials or training. But Chapter 9 describes a fairly new method of treating vitamin C (ascorbic acid) with phospholipids (liposomes) to encapsulate it in tiny spheres only 300 nanometers in diameter (about 1/3300th of 1 mm), allowing it to pass through the intestinal walls far more easily. The result is claimed to be 98% absorption of orally consumed vitamin C into the bloodstream, a phenomenal improvement over untreated vitamin C. Without liposomal treatment, it is estimated that one would need to consume about 12 grams of vitamin C just to get only 2 grams absorbed into the bloodstream, leaving the other 10 grams in the digestive tract where it attracts fluid buildup and results in significant discomfort and even watery diarrhea as the body works to get rid of it. Vitamin C levels in the bloodstream far exceeding 2 grams at a time are easily achievable orally in the liposomal form. Amazon.com offers liposome encapsulated Vitamin C, known by the trade name of Lypo-Spheric Vitamin C, in convenient, sealed two-gram gel packets (one gram of vitamin C) whose contents can be eaten directly, or mixed with a beverage, or applied topically to the skin with one's fingers for external skin irritations and burns.Practicing physicians have to be extremely cautious, however, not to convey to their patients that vitamin C has any therapeutic value. Mainstream medicine, the pharmaceutical industry, and the FDA don't yet approve of any therapeutic claims for vitamin C (beyond scurvy prevention, for which a paltry 90 mg of vitamin C per day has long been known to be sufficient, as chapter 9 mentions). The Preface describes a dentist in the 1990s who routinely offered his dental patients a 50 gram IV of vitamin C while they were having major dental work done, to ease the stresses of the dental work and to help the patients with various other health problems they had. The IV worked very well and is where Dr. Levy first witnessed systematic medical use of vitamin C. Dr. Levy subsequently learned of another doctor in the 1940s who pioneered the therapeutic use of high-dose intravenous vitamin C. Chapter 7 answers the main objections to vitamin C therapy, and Chapter 8 discusses various financial conflicts of interest in the healthcare industry today. Even if government restrictions won't allow doctors to claim that vitamin C cures people, it ought to be possible at least to claim that it helps sufferers to feel better and recover sooner. Most of the book's chapters describe high-dose vitamin C as a treatment for health problems such as herpes infections, AIDS, pesticide exposure, poisonous animal bites, barbiturate overdose, mushroom poisoning, radiation sickness, cancer, osteoporosis, arthritis, swine flu, and Alzheimer's disease. Resource H is devoted entirely to an alphabetical listing of an incredibly wide range of conditions for which high-dose vitamin C can be effective if one can get enough of it into the bloodstream before the disease or poisoning has produced irreversible cell damage -- conditions like polio, staph and strep, rabies, mononucleosis, coronary heart disease (Dr. Levy is a cardiologist), shingles, tetanus, tuberculosis, and many others. The most common mechanism of cell damage is oxidative stress, which vitamin C can neutralize extremely effectively. The book's title, "Primal Panacea," may sound like pure "marketing hype," but "panacea" truly is an accurate term to describe the astounding benefits of vitamin C if one can get enough of it into one's bloodstream soon enough. The book provides 1250 separate references in the medical literature, heavily documenting all of the book's medical claims. The literature spans more than 70 years, from the 1940s to the present. Dr. Levy seeks to bring this vast medical literature more fully to the attention of medical professionals and the general public alike.

FANTASTIC BOOK!
Wanted to read this book for years but think not on Kindle until lately! Haven't read much yet of this 350 pg book but have been a true fan of Dr. Levy for years! Have been having tooth sensitivity with 1-2 teeth for around a year. Just noticed I have a tiny hole in one molar crown. Only have one crown. No metal filling. Decided to use my liposomal vitamin C yesterday that I've used off and on for 3 yrs. With one C packet I noticed tooth pain was gone. Still going to a dentist to probably pull this tooth. Then decided to look online to see if C could help my teeth. Came across this book again and was glad it was on Kindle now! Shocked to immediately to see how dental problems cause lots of diseases.2012 had large amalgam removed, then let dentist do a root canal/crown. Knew shouldn't have but did. That tooth hurt from day one. Wanted to remove amalgam by holistic Dr but $7-900 too expensive and not covered by insurance. 6 months later became completely in deaf in one ear and half in other and have constant vertigo. Lost my 23 yr flight attendant job and on disability and retired. Finally got that tooth pulled with instant relief a year later. Another dentist found previous root canal was not done correctly and infection at bone by tooth roots. Amazed another dentist would tell on another. Glad he did. Still deaf with vertigo. After reading some of this book, will pull a tooth before root canal. At 65 all my other teeth are fine with one crown problem and another questionable with sensitivity. Think these teeth, in question, could be tied to my deafness and vertigo too. Probably too late to get hearing back but can always hope and might help vertigo. Can't wait to read the rest of this book. Have other ebooks by Dr. Levy and are great reads too! Like your liposomal C too!

A world of difference
It is well known that most animals make their own Vitamin C, in their livers. Whether or not human beings ever had this capacity, I don't know. Whether there are a few human beings who still do, again, I don't know. However, because most of us do not make our own Vitamin C, we need to get it from our diet or as a supplement. This book starts off by describing the current situation, where the Medical Establishment frowns on using therapeutic doses of Vitamin C to treat various conditions, describes some of the standard treatments, and labels them as barbaric. It describes the danger that Vitamin C will become unavailable, and that doctors may get into a lot of trouble for using it. There is a very incomplete list of various conditions it will help. The next chapter describes Vitamin C's ability to detoxify from some serious poisons, including toxins from animals and plants. After some more background, the book goes on to discuss the role Vitamin C plays in the health of the circulatory system and the heart. The fact that root canals can lead to serious diseases of the body is also discussed. The mechanism is explained. The same chapter talks about high blood pressure and diabetes. The following chapters talk about cancer in detail, and aging. There is a list of more conditions Vitamin C will address in the latter chapter. The book then describes 7 medical lies that kill and debunks them. The next chapter describes the reasons Vitamin C is debunked. It all adds up to profit. Companies cannot make a huge amount of money from toxic pharmaceuticals if Vitamin C is widely used; Vitamin C is cheap. There is a short explanation of an alternative to intravenous Vitamin C that works just as well. This is Lyposomal Vitamin C. Don't think there is anything that is particularly unethical about including this information. It is common for doctors to profit from giving certain drugs to patients, and they get bribed. Being willing to sell an inexpensive remedy, or recommend it, doesn't constitute some kind of act of moral turpitude. The next section describes the mechanism behind Vitamin C in various situations. It goes into a fair amount of detail. There is an in depth discussion of heart disease and kidney stones. After discussing a couple more topics, the remainder of the text portion talks about specific health conditions, their standard treatment, and documented studies of how Vitamin C helped. Many different health conditions are discussed. The book ends with an extensive list of medical references, and I mean extensive. The vast majority is from medical journals. This is one of the best documented books I have seen in a long time. This is well worth reading, if you need help with a medical condition, and you are willing to try alternatives. While Vitamin C is not a universal panacea, and there are some conditions it probably won't help, these are few and far between. It is too bad this book is so hard to get. I wish it were more widely available. It is high time we, the consumers of health care, demanded that the Medical Establishment stop defrauding us and charging us enormous sums for poisons, and started to promote healthy, safe, and inexpensive alternatives.

TOP TOP TOP !!!
Impossible to tell it all here, got to read for yourself! One of the MOST WANTED TRUTHS out there!!! Vitamina C should be considered "FOOD" (Linus Pauling). Read this, now I'm a TOTAL FAN of Vitamin C, it DOES WORK since taking it closes THE most important deficits in your health!!! Since taking it now for >2 Years, I've managed to get my asthma under control and can now run or swim again (I was a competition swimmer for almost 20 years in my youth) without getting out of breath! It solved my 2 swimming injuries (knee and shoulder) that were nagging me ever since (for ca. 30 years). My son stopped having headaches every week. Even staying out in the sun for hours, almost no sunburn or itches or anything. Sinusitis is "easily" cured with Vit.C, no antibiotica needed anymore. I've had rinitis and allergies throughout all of my life and, for the first time ever, that's all history!!! Nothing seems to be able to get me ill again, VERY NICE!!! I've been distributing this very book to many people around me, who are interested in these matters and lou and behold: they are curing themselves and their loved ones from all kinds of chronic illnesses, normally attributed to age, etc... I could write so much more information herein, but it's best for you to read and test on yourself and loved ones, friends, etc., by yourself! This book is the best one among many I've bought around Vit.C (bought ca. 8), including Linus Pauling's ones. L.P. books are also very good, but Dr. Levy is a bit more "radical" in his dosages and cure experiments. Linus Pauling was a chemist and a DOUBLE Nobel-prize winner, the one and only worldwide til today, BTW! ;-)Vit.C continues to amaze me to the core! Its usage is limitless and, as someone perfectly said somewhere: Vit.C cures everything, only one single exception made: human stupidity is not curable... Virtually everything, illnesses, poisons, wounds, etc... have to do with oxidation stress, collagen, immune system, etc. Vit.C contributes to solve all problems related to those realities. Mind you: Vit.C may indeed be a PRIMAL PANACEA (godess of the cure) but, of course, all of the rest has to be in place as well. The BIG DIFFERENCE between Vit.C and all the rest, this is of HUGE importance(!!!), is that we do not only need the ridiculous and even criminal RDA=60mg= 1 orange, since our body in reality needs 3-6g daily of it to be in that that L.P. and Dr. Levy call "PERFECT HEALTH", where our body can finally unleash ALL its curing and building powers! Here, quantity matters and is, in fact, of CRUCIAL importance! The alternative is living as we've always lived: LIMITED! Chronically ill with "little nags" or even graver problems, etc...The choice is simple, safe and unexpensive! It's YOUR choice and yours alone! The results can truly be mesmerizing!!! ;-) ;-) ;-)

This book has a lot of good information
This book has a lot of good information. Unfortunately, I found the writing style off putting; it's very populist and dramatic. Also, I felt that he sometimes overstates his case. For example, he claims that studies showing a correlation between higher vitamin C blood levels and decreased mortality prove that vitamin C lowers mortality. Of course these studies are very interesting, but, as is often said, "correlation is not causation". These studies were not intervention studies, they were observational studies. It may very well be that the people with higher vitamin C blood levels simply ate a much healthier diet with more fruits and vegetables and less junk food.I would recommend "Ascorbate: The Science of Vitamin C" by Drs. Hickey and Roberts instead as a more sober book about vitamin C.

Good Information about health
I found this book a great source of information about my heart health. I really wish I had read this back in 2006 when I had a heart attack. So much information of things I would have done differently with vitamin C. I have to say that now, it is making a big difference to my general health.

Everyone should read this book!
I cannot believe what I have learnt from this book. I have started to up my dose of vitamin C and so far so good. I feel shocked that we are being stopped from being treated with intravenous vitamin c when ill, having to take chemicals instead, which may or may not work only to line the pockets of the big pharma companies. This is a disgrace!

Simple way to cure so many conditions - This book is needed by every household.
I did a lot of researches for alternative health to help with chronic inflammation (and other stuff). There is a lot of information in this book and Dr Levy is a very credible scientific and leading Vitamin C expert. I have bought some liposomal vitamin C and my condition has improved a lot. Also, no flue or whatsoever, plus much more energy in general.
