Review: So, you want your child to appreciate both a musical genius and the times in which he lived? - This was a happy accident. I had no previous knowledge of the "Who Was ...." series, and when I opened the book, much to my dismay, it was for children. I began to read, simply because I had invested the funds, and was more than pleasantly surprised at the effort (and the Kindle investment!). A very humanistic and sympathetic tale of the life of one of the giants of Music. I fully believe that if Mozart had lived to Bach's ripe age of 65, the course of music would have achieved stretching approaching atonality. The book is a fair and un-glossy story but told in a manner that children of all ages will find endearing. Coupled with a structured listening program, I think anyone would go away greatly impressed with this man's genius. I teach English learners, and they find these books interesting and easy to read. They are excellent books for elementary school students because they have illustrations and are easy to read. I have purchased more than 100 copies of this particular series, and students love them. They tell me that their siblings and parents read them too. I recommend that school and classroom libraries purchase these books for their students. I have students who never used to read books before, and now, they can't stop reading!
