The Berenstain Bears and the Truth

Truth is a hard lesson to teach
My 3 year old daughter really likes this book. She used to lie and we couldn’t tell if it was her imagination or what. So we got a bunch of books about telling the truth.I don’t know if she understands the lesson in this book but the fact that she wants to hear it tells me that the book is entertaining. The Berenstain bears are classic and my daughter likes sister bear.I haven’t found the perfect book about telling the truth and lying, but this is good enough. I think a variety of books are important since it’s such a broad topic and kids lie for different reasons.I’d love to know if anyone has a recommendation.

Two boys' review: A lie detector for young kids
I slip this book into the bedtime rotation a couple times per month. Of all the Berenstain Bears books, this one elicits the most uncomfortable looks from my two, young boys. The book touches on the value of the truth as well as the problems that result from being a tattler. I've found the book to be a great tool for instilling values in our children. The book acts as a springboard to discuss their behavior and any outstanding issues they want to talk about. The best of the Berenstain Bears books can help a parent reemphasize good values and good manners. I recommend this book for your kids' collection. Here's some other Berenstain Bears books I recommend: The Berenstain Bears Get in a Fight The Berenstain Bears and the Trouble with Chores The Berenstain Bears Forget Their Manners The Berenstain Bears and Too Much TV The Berenstain Bears Learn About Strangers

Great truth book!
Books and shows about truth are so hard to find! So far this is the best that I have found. It is pretty basic but it gets the point across in away my child can understand. The parents go out and the children break rules that were already established. These rules are relatable because they are ones that we have in our home as well. When the parents come home they try to lie about what happened and the parents talk to them about why that is bad and the truth is important. Simple to the point, but I will also continue to look for more.

Great story, 5 year old understood it right away
I got this for my five year old to use as a tool for facilitating discussion about honesty, etc. As with other BB books, it is great for blending life lessons into a kids story. My child picked up on the storyline and message right away and we had a great chat about telling the truth.I am a little frustrated that this is the second BB book I've bought on Amazon that is in mediocre shape. The cover isn't stapled properly on to the book, so the cover is misaligned with the rest of the pages. The binding consists mostly of staples that loosen easily. The book ends up looking like a hot mess within a week. If there was a better presentation, these wonderful BB books could be considered family treasures!

Trust cannot be repaired when broken - great book
I love this book, such a classic story for kids, especially when they start fibbing. Great explanations about how trust is hard to build and hard to repair when broken.

This one is nice, but...
Be aware of the never books which are religious and archaic at best. This one however is written by the original author, and has a nice morale to it. There's no shaming in the book, and it has a nicely written story and old style pictures

De la pédagogie derrière l'histoire
On a acheté ce livre pour aider les enfants à comprendre les problèmes posés par les mensonges. Lecture tout à fait utile et intéressante, cette série est toujours bien faite

Encourages truth telling
Perfect for my seven year old. It would probably suit kids from preschool through lower primary- and entertaining enough for their older siblings and parents too!Short and sweet. Encourages truth telling in a simple and humorous way. Nice illustrations on every page. A really effective explanation of the consequence of lying.
