Hoffman 14102 Decorative Soil Covers Alabaster Blend Stone Chips, 2 Quarts

Perfect for what I needed them. I use them as a topper for house plant pots. I also use them in the draining dish for one of my plants that needs more humidity in the air, and I spray them with water from time to time. Look very beautiful in a big pot I have with an Aloe and small succulents, that I prefer to keep a bit further apart so they can grow. The white stones really fill the gaps nicely and give it a finished look, also I imagine protect the soil from erosion. For plants that you don't need to water often, it just works. Have not had them long enough to know if color changes as you water them, I assume it will. But then again, as I said, I only use them for plants that I water once a week the most. Very satisfied altogether! BTW, they are covered with tiny white dust, which is only natural, so have that in mind. I wanted something that really is white, and those certainly are.Update: Color does change quite a bit with time and if you put water on top - but primarily because of dirt getting on them and water becoming brownish because of the soil. I have a dish only with the rocks among my plants to use for humidity, and those haven't really changed much. But you can expect overall that they will become yellow to brown. Still, getting another package. Great asset for indoor plants, especially to use as humidity dish under the pot or on its own.

I bought these stone chips to fill in some cactus pots. My plants look amazing now. The color of these stones are bright white and have a little sparkle to them. The size of these stones are about the size of a dime with some being smaller (about eraser head). Perfect for decorative stones. I never prewashed mine but some people say they do to wash the stone dust off. These stones are NOT painted and the color won't peel off. They are just natural stone! I got these for a class terrarium and for my plants at home. They are small but not too small. The white color is really attractive. You get quite bit for the price.

I used these to add to my succulent garden pot that I made and it really brings out the plants and helps to keep the weeds out.

I got this for some of my potted houseplants. It turned out to be a beautiful white rock that looked amazing on my potted plant! An added benefit is it decreases how often I have to water my plants, AND it got rid of my gnat problem! The rocks suffocated the gnats in the soil and prevented them from surfacing. Have already bought a second bag because it’s so great! After price checking around, this is also the cheapest option I found for how much is in the bag!

Looks better than plain dirt in areas where dirt isn’t pleasant like a bathroom. But there is a bit of dust and when you wet the rocks, some do turn brown.

This is just what I needed for my succulent plant garden. This bag had enough for two containers that are both 8 inches round. I was able to put approximately 2 inches of stones on the bottom and a thin layer on top. They look very nice- just what I needed.

These aren’t white enough. The size of the stone was what I wanted. I also didn’t get enough to fill my pot. I was trying to fill a 12” diameter 5” high bowl pot. This was not to cover soil as a topping. It was nowhere near enough. Had to put a container under it to fill the space and thus was not enough room to get my faux succulents stabbed in all the way because the container was in the way! Had to angle them in and still the rocks did not come up high enough. I was going to buy another bag but on looking at it today in different lighting conditions I see they look even more grey. You also get a half a cup of dust included. The rocks are coarse of various sizes and colour variations. I’ll look for something else
