Dorland's Illustrated Medical Dictionary (Dorland's Medical Dictionary) 32nd Edition

Excellent tool for anyone in any branch of the medical professions. I work in HIM, and recently with a software upgrade, we no longer have access to the electronic version of Dorland's, so I decided to get my own hard copy to always have the information I need at hand. There are always terms you don't recognize, or terms you may have heard, but don't really know the correct meanings of . Even before we had the electronic version in the office, we always had the hard copy dictionary in the office. With fewer HIM offices buying books to aid their employees, this is a good investment, and it's not something you have to replace every year or two.

This is one of the best medical dictionary out there. Has lots of useful illustrations.

This dictionary appears to be very thorough. The fonts are very clear and legible including the pronunciation keys for each term. To assist in locating each term more quickly, they are printed in boldface maroon. There are many excellent full-color photographs and illustrations throughout the text. The binding appears to be very strong for a book with over 2000 pages, yet lays flat wherever you find yourself in the text. I am very pleased with my purchase and the price. Delivery was right on time, and the shipment was well protected.

I have looked through the book and it is a prime example of Elsevier publishing. The printing and binding are excellent. The only thing I would change is the type size but there are a lot of definitions in this book so as it is it is a great reference. I wanted something to help with understanding medical terms and have found that there is a fair amount of crossover into other s sciences such as botany and paleontology.

Although I was very impressed with the book itself I was disVERYappointed it did not come with a CD with 35,000 pronuciations Reading the description of this book it said "Listen to 35,000 audio pronunciations" in Most Helpful Customer Reviews is said "In addition to offering a visual guide to correct pronunciation of the terms, there is an associated CD that comes in the back of the book which when inserted into you CD player or computer offers audio pronunciation guides for almost every term. (The CD also offers excellent appendices for listing anatomy, nerves, etc in understandably related columns.)" so I assumed it would come with the CD & as I said before was VERY disappointed when it didn't, as that is the main reason I chose this dictionary over all the others:(

Book is used but in excellent condition. Still has cd. Great price for a 1 year old book

Love this book- I use it daily for studying and work purposes (I'm a resident). Shipping was fast- condition of book was better than I expected. Overall, great experience with this book company, and recommend them without reservation.

I had the normal paper Dorland's for many years, which I had to put on a stand to read and use a magnifying lens to see. Now, I have this magnificent digital version which I can put on my left monitor to consult while translating into English on my right monitor. what more can I ask for? It helps me immensely in my work.
