Love this thing so much. I bought it the day it came out and have been using it religiously since. I use it by the aux cord in my car since it does not have Bluetooth. This essentially makes my phone Bluetooth and it works seamlessly in my vehicle, the instant I step in the car. It is twenty times more reliable than any Bluetooth transmitter I have ever tried in my car. And that is just for music, the Alexa part is a bonus already. I do not use it as much as my Alexa at home but it can be very helpful at times. I would much rather Alexa give me the answer to something I would usually Google and not focus on the road. It can also be used by sending drop-in announcements to the house, which is SUPER helpful when you are letting your kids/spouse know you are on the way home because it can either let someone know to start dinner earlier/later or you can ask someone to help unload groceries, etc. Absolutely love the Auto and it is well worth the cheap price.

Doesn't work on all models...
I have a 2004 Dodge Duango with an Infinity sound system that is magnificent. The Aux input for this system is a component style three input, video, right, left...if you know what I mean...located on the roof next to the DVD player. There is a mode button on the system control on the dash that selects the radio, or the CD player...or the DVD if it is playing...OR whatever is plugged int the aux input. Smart, huh? Well apparently not smart enough for this Echo Auto. It will work...But it very frustrating getting it connected to your smart phone (which requires full volume to the aux input) via Bluetooth and then getting the sound system to pick it up when the smartphone warns you that high volumes can damage your hearing and turns down the volume. It takes a couple of minutes but you can get it to work. Otherwise...Great sound, Alexa hears every command, just need a newer car...But I like Betsy (My Durango). So I just installed Alexa on my smart phone and that works better.

Good for a 1st generation product, hopefully improvements are on the horizon
Rating as 4 of 5 (or a Solid B)...there are several things that I like about the product. First, it brings solid voice control to older vehicles that do not have Bluetooth but do have an Aux input. Playing music, taking phone calls, issuing Alexa commands, and getting Alexa feedback works very well and is a delight - when it works - which is most of the time. The problems I encountered were irregular but frequent enough to frustrate one, I would estimate 15% of the times in use...that is a pretty high number. There is the periodic stoppage of Music playback for no reason, no response (just the blue-green light band flashing), not connecting to the network.I think this is a tough task for the product since it relies on the Phone service QoS to determine how well it can work on top of that. But if there were more granularity to the error messages or an ability to gauge the QoS for the link such as, "Alexa, how's the connection?", it would be better for knowing what is going on when it is not working.I like the product, I am glad I participated in the early release. Voice control like this is a real plus in the car, and I find the Echo (and Alexa) easier to use than what is installed in the newer autos. There is a lot of room for improvement however, and I hope Amazon keeps at this.Update:The rubber cable organizer adhesive gave way pretty early in the game - this adhesive was not well selected for the car environment. The switching from Echo Auto to AirPods is hit or miss, I wonder if the Amazon Earbuds are more seamless in the handoff.Still liking the device. Pretty much all I listen to in the car whether it’s a clear signal AM/FM Radio on iheart Radio or XM or an album on Amazon Music, it’s just so much more of an enjoyable experience.

ALEXA IS THE BEST ---- BUT she is a horrible driver
So I have ‘Alexa-fied’ my entire home - and working on adding more and more things daily.....I like the fun in the WHAT CAN SHE DO FOR ME NOW! When the AUTO version came out I got excited. So it’s basically just the same Alexa you have at home and whatever is programmed with that ALEXA App you already have. As long as it is AUTO acceptable since you are driving. BUT you have to be WIFI OFF (roaming bumps her off and loses her), you have to be BLUETOOTH ON, you have to have selected your phone as the settings for the car to work with. Anyone of of these NOT ready when you start your car can throw her off and make it challenging to connect. TOO MUCH HASSLE.BUY a newer car with CARPLAY and you can just do it easier than this. I got it at 1/2 off on a first buyer’s promo, I still don’t think it is even worth that. ALEXA can do better than this.OH YEAH and the wires, OMG THE WIRES! Your car looks like 1990 plugging in the AMP wire to play music from your iPOD, remember that?? (if you are a Millennial you won’t know what I am referencing).

Gah...Hmmm...It’s a love hate relationship
I like this as far as games go. I had no problems hooking it up. The vent clip is a joke tho. Here in New England the heater is running and I’m afraid I’m going to burn the insides out. Plus it can’t hear over the a/c either. I do have a decent gps in my car, so it’s the music for me. You can’t replay when you’re streaming like you can with your phone. It’s basically a dot for the car, which is fine with me. It also will turn on your lights which is nice vs having to use your phone app. I guess it’s what your preferences are. I just need a place to put it where it can hear me and not this huge junky clip for the vent. I’m sure Amazon will come up with something in the future for this.
