Nice vise.
I puchased this vise at an incredible price. It wasn't even a Lightning Deal or anything like that; just one day the price was drastically reduced for no apparent reason and was, literally, too good to refuse. Unfortunately, once it arrived I had buyer's remorse. For some reason (i.e. my own stupidity), I was under the impression that this was a multi-angle vise similar to the Stanley MaxSteel multi-angle vise . It's not. Keep that in mind when making your purchase. That said, this vise seems to be of decent quality. It's definitely a light-duty vise, being only 3" wide and a clamp-on to boot, but it is heavy for its size and built quite sturdily. The jaws open/close smoothly, so no binding in the main screw. Heck, it even has an anvil and pipe jaws incorporated into the design... on a 3" clamp-on vise! I remember way back in the old days when I lived in an apartment, and there were times I could have used a simple vise like this. If you're married you probably won't get away with this, but for single guys in apartments you could easily clamp this onto your dining room table. Or if you have a WorkMate in the closet, that'll work too. Heck, you could take it to the local park and clamp it onto a picnic bench if you wanted. The point is, the vise is portable, so you're limited only by your imagination for where you could use it. I don't know how much use I'm going to get out of this, considering I already have a heavy-duty 6" vise mounted on my workbench, but for the price I paid it's just not worth the time/effort to return. I'll probably use it as a second support point for those ultra-rare occassions when I'm working on an overly long workpiece; i.e. use the heavy-duty vise for the main grip, but use the smaller clamp-on vise to stabilize the longer workpiece... so long as the workpiece doesn't have to remain level of course, given the size difference between the two vises. Regardless, if you need a light-duty portable vise, this Irwin vise is a great option.

FIVE STARS! It's Perfect!
No, this is the Best Selling 3" Vise. Seriously.. Just because it's cheap, doesn't make it better. This is ALL STEEL. There's nothing plastic on this. It's got flat jaws, and it's awesome. Just got it today, and it's my first Clamp on type vise. I LOVE IT. Came in perfect condition. There was machine oil on the jaws, which I kindly wiped off with a tissue. It's well built. Now I can do my hand cut box joins and everything on this bad boy. I'm so happy. It's absolutly perfect, and knowing and seeing that it's all steel construction, give me peace of mind. I was going to buy the other one, but this is by far, VERY NICE. 5 STARS is what I give it. It's worth 5 STARS. Can use Copping Saws, German Jeweler saws, files, and work on my work pieces that I need to work on without any thought of it not being able to hold what I need to work on. PERFECTION. I don't think I could ask for a better clamp vise. Was going to get the SE 8436MVC 3" Universal Table Vise, but figured all the plastic, and moving parts, it was bound to break, and I wasn't going to have that. So I paid $10 more for a stronger vise. Will last me years to come. Uploaded a few (8) images because that was one thing that the product lacks. It's a really nice vice, so I uploaded some really nice, clear photos. Shot them on my Panasonic Lumix LX7 in full manual mode. Because I ALWAYS shoot in manual, because I'm a PRO at life itself.

Decent for small projects, feels sturdy enough for the price.
I bought this vice to use as a cheap and quick add-on for workstation for gunsmithing. I'd say overall quality is good for the price. The bolts feel smooth and clamps line up properly. The clamp you use to affix it to a table/workbench could be a little bigger though so in order to handle a bit more force without coming detached. If you need to clamp something that requires significant torquing or bashing it might end up popping off or damaging whichever piece of furniture you have it attached to. Other than that it works great for securing guns for cleaning, smaller assembly actions, dimpling, etc.

Amazing mini vise.
I have the 20lb big boy of this one attached to my workbench and wanted a smaller, more portable mini vise, to attach to a mobile workbench. This little vise is amazing. Well built all around. It's small, but heavy and sturdy for its size. The jaws open wide enough to and are strong enough to hold a 2x4. The vise attachment screw easily screws open or closed on a surface, and the vise clamps down on its victim for as long as you need it secured. I am a master woodworker and find this little vise perfect. It's portability, construction, and ease of use are simply amazing and exactly as advertised. I completely recommend buying this product. It's a bang for the buck. Get one.

Great little vise
IRWIN Clamp-On Vise, 3", 226303 I bought it for my wooden ship modeling hobby. With 3" wide jaws, it's perfect for holding wood or metal for planing or cutting for my hobby. It also has a small casting in the jaws for holding small pipe or dowels horizontally. The screw turns easily, especially after adding 3-In-1 oil to the threads. I use a wooden solid-core door for my hobby table top, and it clamps on firmly and easily...no movement at all once you clamp it down. Appears to be well made. It's solid cast iron and feels hefty but is light enough to easily move around the table with one hand. Don't confuse this with the bigger and heavier machine vises, because it's not that. But it is absolutely perfect for what I use it for. This is one of my better purchases and would not hesitate at all to buy again. I also bought as an accessory the BENCH WIZARD 3 Inch Magnetic Aluminum Vice Jaws (Jaws Only): VISE-29330 . I highly recommend both.

Very nice vise. The box shows two plastic covers on the clamping jaws of this vise, but unfortunately they didn't come included. The jaws are not serrated though, so they shouldn't be marking anything if you don't torque the vise too much. The unit is very well made though and can be used for small to medium jobs practically anywhere. I use it at the office if I ever have to do any equipment maintenance: just clamp it to your desk and you have a small but very solid vise at your disposal. Excellent for holding things still while you drill, rivet or glue them together! It also features a tiny little anvil on it too, but I'm a bit paranoid about hammering things on it, as I don't want to damage the nice looking baked-on blue paint! Overall, this tool is a small work of art, lol.... :)

Very solid little vise that adapts to many types of tables, so it does come in very handy for the small holding jobs. For more money, you can get the ones that pivot in all directions but if that's not necessary, than this one will give better stability and resistance. Typical Irwin quality, the opening and closing is smooth and all of the pieces are machines with good precision for the price. Only gripe is that the jaws are solid, without any gripping teeth or rubber surface. So I had to purchase magnetic rubber contact jaws separately, which add to the total price. If you found my review helpful, please select yes.
