This has a knob to lock in the length of the blade. The blades are very sharp and can keep the sharp edge a little longer than other knives.

This is a great utility knife. It has a good weight. It feels solid. I've had it for over a year and use it all the time. The blades last pretty well, but you will need more if you use it much. Buy extra blades. Great tool.

This is in the top drawer of my toolbox. I have never again used my old utility knives.

I bought two styles of OLFA utility knives, this one, the OLFA 5003 L-1, and also the OLFA 1072198 LA-X. All the other knives I've had will slip when trying to cut through thick and dense material. This one can be set to exactly the depth you want, and when you tighten the wheel, it will not slip while cutting even the hardest material. I also bought a package of OLFA 9009 L-SOL 18mm Heavy-Duty Solid Blade because it's easier to cut through two inch EPS rigid insulation. The other OLFA knife I bought is also nice and very well made. it has detents and sometimes slips when trying to cut through something hard. I don’t use it extended all the way for heavy materials (for that I use the 5003). It comes with an LBB ultra-sharp blade that I like (black in color). I think I will order a replacement package of those.
