Review: Great, simple book that helped me learn crochet - I really like this book. I decided to learn to crochet on vacation and took this on the airplane with me with a bit of practice yarn and some hooks. The illustrations are nice and i think do a good job explaining the different stitches. I spent maybe 4hrs on it and learned all the basic stitches. I'm going to try the pompom one next because it looks cool. Only downside is the book smells like chemicals, so it needs an air out for sure. For size, it's a little larger than normal paper, but pretty thin. I like the spiral binding to make it easy to flip between pages. Looking to buy another one of their books so I don't need internet to learn patterns Review: Extremely useful instructions and photos - I havenโt crochet for over 40yrs and wanted to puck it up again. This spiral bound instruction book is perfect. Every page is step-by-step instruction for various crochet stitches, added and subtracting rows as well as multi finishing techniques. I LOVE that this instruction book is not peppered with frivolous info that is not instructive. In addition to the wonderfulspiral binding, th front and back covers are waterproof and can be wiped clean, if needed. Very nice paper quality. Well annotated, close up, color photos of every step. This is a great, no frills, instruction manual. Great for beginners or as a refresher. Highly recommend. Just a qick FYI: This book dies not include instructions for the traditional ringed, triple crochet granny square.

Finally nailed that confusing magic circle!
Great book for beginners, and I mean beginner beginners who have never crocheted (like me)! Decided I needed yet โanother hobbyโ and really wanted to learn to crochet. I bought a hook set, some random yarn and jumped to online videos. I got lost quickly. I found it hard to follow along as sometimes the angles of the video made deciphering the movements a challenge. After browsing different book options, I decided on this one...well, because it was short and claimed to cover so many stitches. Seeing other reviewers photos of the pages helped me decide this is what I felt I was looking for. As the photos clearly show, this is a thin spiral bound book. Nice glossy covers, opens flat as you expect. Short and to the point with descriptions for each photo. Easy to follow along with in conjunction with videos. With this book and videos, I crocheted my very first thing ever, a beanie. You can absolutely see my mistakes, but I truly couldnโt even get a magic circle made until I had this book to go along with videos I was watching. After surviving the beanie and getting accustomed to crochet lingo, I was able to follow a pattern to make a pom pom beanie for my dog (working on a second one now, ha ha). I referenced this book EVERY single time a different stitch/chain came up in the pattern. If it could only solve my counting and tension issues though, lol! This book is a great tool for a beginner to have. It is clear, concise as to not overwhelm or have you waste endless time flipping through too many pages, functional in that it stays open, and thin/lightweight enough to shove in your crochet bag to keep handy always. For what I paid and what I feel I am getting out of this book, I am very glad I added it to my bag of hobbies. (My dogs are probably hoping I leave it out so they can sabotage my plans to make them sweaters!)

An excellent, well organized & photographed book
If you want to learn how to crochet or are still a novice, this book would be a good place to begin or expand your learning journey. This book is spiral bound, a definite plus as it will always lay flat. It is well organized with a Table of Contents up front instead of an alphabetical index in the back. There are excellent color photos of each sample swatch followed with step by step color photos of each stitch. There are red arrows pointing out precisely where your hook must be inserted for each step of the stitch. The written instructions are clearly worded and placed directly below the picture of each step. It covers simple but helpful supplies. Hook sizes are shown. There is an overview of yarn types and weights. Th โTipsโ are easily identified by outlined dashes. And finally, a number of finishing techniques are demonstrated. My only disappointment with this book is that some of the yarn used for the sample swatches looks like it is poor quality. The strands are loosely twisted, are more subject to splitting - your hook doesnโt catch all the strands for a neat stitch. These splits are often difficult to pull out when they are finally noticed a row or two later. Careful pulling (aka: frogging) is the way to correct the split stitch. Iโve been a โHappy Hookerโ for more than 50 years. Iโve made hundreds of slippers, dozens of scarfs, some sweaters, a few leg and knee warmers, rugs and more blankets for charity, friends, children, cats and dogs than I can recall. Welcome to the club! I hope your journey is also a happy one.

Perfect for Beginners
I had purchased two books from this company. This was my first. And all of it is essentially added to my other granny square book. This book arrived perfectly. My other one did not. Both positive and negative reviews are accurate. Itโs a crap shoot that it will arrive w/unbended pages, pages right side up and in order. Printing is accurate. Colors and pictures are great. Info is perfect for beginner. Would purchase again. Good quality. Pages easily turn. All the basics for brand new beginner. Used a lot. Would be great to add in with a gift.

Excellent reference book for new crochet-er!
As a beginning crocheter, I needed the absolute basics. this book was it! Iโve been crocheting for about 6 weeks and this book was instrumental for me not only acquiring the basics, but also as a guide that I frequently refer to when starting a new project. I like how the book breaks it down by stitch and gives very clear pictures of each step. I now keep it in the drawer next to me when Iโm crocheting in the evenings. This book plus watching some YouTube videos was all I needed to get started. I am already on my 3rd project and this book has been a huge help! I highly recommend this book to anyone new to crochet or even those that are more advanced that want a good picture glossary of all the main stitches. The book is nice quality too. This glossy pages and spiral bound so it will stand up to some wear. Could make a cute gift too with some yarn and some hooks!

Great
I'm a beginner with crocheting and this is really a great book with simple steps to follow. Most importantly, the binding is so smart and it makes it so easy to read while practising at the same time. I do not have to constantly worry about keeping the book open. Highly recommended.

Want to learn about the various crochet stitches and techniques? This is it!
For beginners and those wanting to get back into it, this book is great. It isn't filled with projects, but with clear instructions on how to do the various stitches. I hadn't crocheted in decades and though I can look things up on YouTube and see how it's done, I really do like some clear pictorial instructions and this book is great for that.

Good Value ,Very Useful with excellent photos of each stage of a stitch
This spiral bound & soft cover stitch book has plenty of very useful and good quality photos of each stitch, so even a beginner can follow easily and with confidence. The spiral design is handy. The page design is well thought out, with each stitch illustrated on facing pages - so no flipping to get to next step - with clear and simple explanations. Author also made a point of using yarn colours that make following the creation of the stitch very simple. The table of contents shown in the ad makes it clear that this book does not contain the more complicated and less used stitches so you'll have to look elsewhere for those. However, the most frequently used stitches in afghans, sweaters, dishcloths, tea cosy's, etc. are here for fast and convenient reference. Also covers other basics like changing colours, fastening off, and finishing & edging. This would make a terrific and inexpensive stocking stuffing for a budding crafter or even an old gal like me that's forgotten some of these stiches.
