A: Yes, it sinks fairly quickly as the weight underneath is significantly heavier than the disk.

Works but not a professional quality. The string is just a string and the plate is pretty thin. It does not like a current or moving waterways. Would suggest upgrading to a marked small rope because the string is gonna become a tangled mess someday.
