Surprised
I'm always leery about buying furniture made from particle board. I've had too many experiences in the past with the stuff only lasting a couple of years before it turns to utter garbage. I get the feeling that won't be the case with this desk. The coating on the particle board is actually quite nice and durable...I did not expect that. The metal framing is solid and sturdy when put together. It is a modular design so it's not going to support 500 pounds of weight, but it does just fine with my office setup. It has the right amount of desktop space and legroom I was looking for.It went together easily enough, but I did have to use my brain a few times when putting it together because it's easy to get the screws mixed up (there are 3 types that all look the same but have different lengths). I didn't realized I used one in a wrong spot until I was putting on the very last piece and things weren't working correctly. Oh well. The instructions suggested not using a drill as the desk came with an Allen wrench and a screw driver. I would strongly suggest that if you have a hand held ratcheting screwdriver to use that. It saved me way more time. If you don't have one but want to consider buying one, they're fairly cheap and well worth the investment (I'm not cross promoting, just offering up useful tips).

High Quality Materials, Very Sturdy, Great Value But could use better instructions
1st off, I'd like to credit other reviewers whose comments/suggestions were very helpful. For example, AG noted that the top shelf is a tight fit & one part (Steps 16 or 17, Part #8) should be left loose to make the installation of the top shelf easier. That really helped! This was the 2nd gaming/computer desk that I'd gotten from Amazon for my grandson, who just turned high school age. The first desk was very bad (horrible) quality. So bad, that we could not finish the assembly and I had to return it.So, I was already skeptical when this one arrived and I could not find the assembly instructions and none were available for download from the seller's website. Normally, instructions are included in the parts bag/box but none were there. Seller needs to place the assembly instructions in with the parts!! Seller needs to make the assembly instructions available for download!!While I was trying to figure it out, my grandson checked the shipping box again. I tried to use the tutorial videos but it wasn't working. As other reviews also noted, the very, very, short assembly tutorials were lacking in details. Eventually, grandson found the instructions sandwiched between two Styrofoam sheets. Although the instructions could have been better (more details, especially the orientation of the parts), which other reviewers also noted, we were good to go.As other reviewers also noted, I was initially skeptical when I saw the Ikea style fasteners and was worried that the assembled desk would not be sturdy. However, the combination of regular wood screws & the Ikea fasteners worked out well. All the assembled wood parts fit tightly and there was little or no flex. I was impressed with the high density MDF shelf boards. I could really tighten the wood screws. For comparison, the previous computer desk that I'd returned used cheap low density particle boards that I could actually finger tighten some screws. The desk height and shelf heights are good. As shown in the photos, my grandson's new gaming computer and PS2 easily fit on the shelves. As noted by another reviewer, the bottom-end shelves are not fully supported (attached only to the back frame). To compensate, I used slightly larger and much longer wood screws (Steps #2 & 3, Part E).The desk fits the corner of his room perfectly and looks great. He's very happy with his new desk. We're happy campers!

Shockingly great for the price!
I needed a desk for PC gaming and couldn't afford much. I found this one after looking all over and figured I could try it out as it is a pretty great price. I am shocked at how amazing the quality is! We ended up buying another one for my husbands PC. I really love the bottom shelves, I have a smaller case so it fit perfectly so I can keep my tower off the carpet. My husbands case is quite a bit bigger than mine so he just sat the shelf on the floor and put his PC tower on it instead of mounting the shelf and it works just fine. I was also shocked at how much space is on the desk top, works great when I need to use a notebook to write down gaming stuff while not having to move my keyboard/mouse.I will say that you really have to pay attention to parts when assembling as my husband did confuse himself a few times when assembling his own desk.My biggest issue is the white stickers to tell which piece is which are VERY difficult to peel off. I've yet to get them all because they take forever to peel all the way and get all the leftover pieces of adhesive.Other than that, this desk is incredibly great quality and very sturdy! We have toddlers that climb all the furniture and it has so far had no issues when they sneak onto it.

Decent desk, but obviously cheaper construction
So this desk is fine, works well and stuff. However, the matierials are super cheap. There's a conflict because if I do not use a power drill for the screws, the parts are flimsy and need to be tightened. However, the screws are super cheap and fall apart when you use a power drill so... that is annoying. Wood is flimsy and will erode quickly if you expose it to moisture, but won't be a problem for most people. I would ask the company to improve their materials, at least use decent screws please because you need a power drill to build something that's sturdy, but the screws break apart when you do use a power drill. I would still use one for construction just to get it sturdy, but be careful as I broke one of the screws. Also when you install the side panels, it is pretty annoying.
