Cuts through matboard but safety feature annoying
I bought this to cut out SoulCollage blanks from mat board. It works great for that. The only thing is that the paper guard/clamp thingy means you can only cut things that fit underneath that and in between the posts. So you can't cut larger things in stages. This is disappointing because sometimes I buy decorative paper that comes in big sheets, and I can't use this unless I first cut it into smaller pieces. Which kinda defeats the purpose of having a fancy paper cutter. And the guard looks firmly bolted on, it's not like it's easy to remove. It's nice to be able to hold down the paper while cutting, but I wish I could remove it if I needed to, or that it was designed in such a way that it didn't keep you from cutting paper larger than the blade. Safety is great, but it's frustrating when it is at the expense of usability. But other than that, it is a very solid product for a good price and it cuts through mat board and cardboard easily.

Buyer Beware...
Previous reviews speak of how great a cutting job this cutter produces. The cutter boasts of being able to cut up to 30 sheets at a time. That is not quite true. While the cutting blade is sharp, I found that any more than 8 pages will result in frayed edges (even that many often have frays). Also, the page never has a truly straight appearance as the cutter leaves a little more at the top than at the bottom. This may be the result of the lock bar that holds the paper down being a full 1/2 inch from the blade. We were really hoping for a good cutter for our business (smooth edges, precise cuts, etc.) This was definitely NOT it! If you are looking for something for school projects or to cut paper for scrapbooking, then maybe you'd want to consider this (although you might find something way cheaper than the $150 price tag that comes with this cutter). DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR PROFESSIONAL GRADE WORK!!

Great Cutter
It takes a bit to get use to the locking mechanism that holds the blade in place but wants you get the hang of unlocking to pull the blade up it ain't no thing. Cuts great. I was afraid that I wasn't going to like the paper holding component but it really helps keep the paper steady when you need a good exact cut.I'd buy it again.

It's okay....
We were replacing a very old version of this same model and were a little dsappointed that it was smaller than our old one. We really like the paper clamp feature and it cuts cleanly and accurately, if a little stiffly. I have a cheaper model at home, that is not near as stiff, but also not as accurate or as sturdy. It's a heavy duty paper cutter and feels it.

Out of square, unable to make precise cuts
I am 99% sure I have a model that was bought, used, abused, covered up, and returned. The paint is chipped and covered up with sharpie marking and the box has a second set of staple marks with no staples in them. Even so there are issues that are manufacturing not abuse. The entire base is uneven with one foot higher than the others. The markings on the top measurement bar don’t line up with the grid on the base. The grid is not square to the top bar or cutting line. If you want to make precise cuts: Forget it. Who knows if any of those markings are even close to accurate. The clamp bar is also a good half inch from the cutter so it isn’t going to hold anything particularly well and it gets in the way of any means of measuring your cuts. The only good thing I can say is it will make your inaccurate cuts quickly. But if all you need is quick cuts box cutters will do you just fine and they don’t cost $200.

Very nice trimmer!!
The best paper cutter I’ve ever used. Sharp blade, durable construction. Solid and heavy. The lever that you can use to hold paper in place is also a good feature, just be sure not to press down too hard so as not to leave an impression on your paper. The first one I purchased was at work. So impressed I purchased one for myself. Additionally, my daughter who has a shop on Etsy purchased another one when she moved!

Totally worth it!!
After I made this purchase I regretted spending about 30.00 more than some of the others available, but once I received it and opened it, I realized it was worth every extra penny. I bought this for my personal use in my classroom, so I wouldn't have to go down into the school basement every time I needed to use one. The size is perfect and really heavy duty. Cuts perfectly every time, not like some of the others that move as the blade goes down. Great size for a classroom, office of personal use. This is a keeper!!

Used and in terrible condition.
This was a gift for my father and was sent to his house. I was so embarrassed when I saw it. The blade/arm was so bent that it couldn't be pulled downward. It was dirty and had obviously been abused. It was in such bad condition that it was shipped in a HUGE box to accommodate the bent arm that was stuck straight up at a 90 degree angle from the base. I hope no one else gets stuck with this mess since I returned it.

Proven over time
Bought this in 2013 (8 years ago) and it is still going strong, used in a shipping room and used multiple times per week. Not even replacing it yet. The auto-sharpening, which is basically just a spring pushing the blade against the metal base, still works but over the years it has gradually grinded away the metal so the cut isn't laser straight, but its still sharp and straight enough. Very good!
