It’s worth it for the phone portion alone
First of all, I’ve had three of these kid watches now (our original died when worn in a pool), and we only updated this time around (to 4G capable) because we no longer have 2G in our area, which meant the GPS was never accurate. Let me tell you, there is a WORLD of difference between this new model and the older versions. The older versions worked fine, but the functions and setting options for this watch are laid out much more intuitively. They do have the flashlight (torch) button located in the settings portion of the watch, rather than a button of its own on one of the other screens, which will confuse most kids looking for it, I think. The light itself is decently bright though. It’s not a strong beam, but would be useful if needed. As far as setup goes, it’s much simpler as well, although I suspect part of that is the fact that I’ve done it before, so I knew what to expect. The GPS was off by a mile or so for the first two days, no matter how often I sent instructions to gather the location through the app. I also made sure to text the APN to the watch phone number as well, so I was agitated when it continued to be inaccurate. HOWEVER, by the third day it calibrated and seems to be pretty accurate (down to the room of the house the watch is currently in). But I haven’t taken it out of my neighborhood yet, so I’ll need to test this part a bit more.*I will update this review if I find the GPS is off as I use it more, as that was important to me when I was buying*The Math game is worthless. The touch screen isn’t quite sensitive enough to catch the answers in the WAY too minimal time limit (I couldn’t even get past three questions. Admittedly, my math skills aren’t top-notch, but I’m at least as good as the average 10-year-old). That said, I wish they’d include one or two other games for kids like they do for non-gps enabled watches. But, that’s not why I got this watch, so honestly, it doesn’t actually bother me.It is a bit thicker than the previous models. I felt like it was bulky, but all of my kids (they share the one watch) say it doesn’t bother them, including my 6-year-old who has very tiny wrists. All in all, you’re basically getting a phone for your child for less than $70 that also allows you to track them. It’s worth what you're paying for it.*also, my 2G watch still works to make phone calls, but has ZERO GPS tracking. I’ve kept it activated as a backup, so if the phone part is more important than the GPS, you might as well buy the cheaper watch*

Good/Bad - worth 75 bucks but not more
Here are the pros/cons of this device. We have two watches. We use T-Mobile as a service. You need to know that you have to have a T-Mobile phone line not the T-Mobile watch line for this phone to work. Reason for purchasing this watch was phone for kids ICE and gps.Pros: The YouTube video on how you setup the phone is great for getting started. This phone has a setting that will only allow selected program callers. You can program contacts directly from your phone. It has a video calling option. It has one app to manage both phones. You can also text but it seems limited. The audio phone version seems to work best. And it provides the time which you can change for either 12 or 24 hour setting. The other good part is only approved callers have access via video calling.Cons: The GPS sucks. It hardly works - I mean hardly ever, like almost never. And it is not completely compatible with T-Mobile. The video has huge delays and is spotty. It has horrible reception. There are no games on this phone’s App Store. Neither you nor the kid can download games of any kind. There is one math app for kindergarten or 1 grader but that is it. The other problem is that if someone else calls your phone while on a video chat through the app, the video chat disappears and closes. There are also a thousand commercials to use the app and you cannot manage the phone without the app. So, you want to pay for $3 a year subscription. This provider has a lot of work to do but this option is still better than T-Mobile’s timex option which has worst reviews. Also, it would be helpful to have an online product manual.

(NO LONGER) Better value and functions than the name brand kids GPS watches!
UPDATE: this watch and app once worked mostly as advertised, and despite a tricky setup and many bugs I was very happy with it. I don't know what they changed but now it is slow, very buggy, and most features don't work well IF AT ALL. I have reconfigured APN and IP settings, and updated the app (this helped a little, but not really. It was not performing ANY promised features, now I can text (but there are no notifications for when a text comes in or out) and track her again.) The problem seems to be with the app/service not the device. No one can call the device at all. Only in app can I video call her and neither the audio nor video work enough to hear or see one another in call. Remote photos take minutes to show up if at all, an eternity if you fear for your child's safety. Location accuracy is very bad LPS most of the time and there's no way to turn it off and just use the far more accurate GPS. (It does pop into GOS mode randomly but I need that accuracy always) Step tracking and other extras, forget 'em. I still believe this was among the best options when it came out and worked better, but more companies are making products like this and I need one that WORKS to keep my child safe. I've ordered the TickTalk4 now that it's come out. (a much more expensive watch that does everything this one claims to do and more, minus the math game) but hopefully ACTUALLY does them. If it works as promised the extra money will be worth it.Previous review:Once kids reach a certain age they need phones to be safe but internet on phones puts them at risk too. This watch is the ideal solution. Great battery life, talk-to-text, video chat, GPS realtime location and fencing, SOS function, (sends you a text of gps coordinates then calls up to three numbers of your choosing until someone answers) Remote photo capability. Only accepts calls from numbers you approve. Tracks steps. When ours stopped working properly the company replaced it hassle free. We bought the Speedtalk sim and it's only $5/mo! Mobile app is in rudimentary english and takes a little getting used to, but ultimately works just fine. The freedom and peace of mind this product has brought to our family is incredible. I have looked into the similar verizon and sprint products and they cost more per device, per subscription, and don't have as many features. I'm so very pleased.
