Monomaster, Mushroom

I used to just stick my excess tippet in a random pocket and try to remember to throw it in our recycling bin when I get back home, but usually end up forgetting. After purchasing the Monomaster, I attached it to a zinger on my fishing pack so it provides quick and easy access. I've used it a few times now and I'm not even close to having to empty it out. It is a little hard sometimes to get the tippet or line started winding it in, but once it becomes wound around the spool, it doesn't come out through the gap where you originally inserted the tippet. I think it's part of our duty as anglers to keep our streams and rivers as clean as possible and leave as little impact as we can. I would happily recommend this product to any angler!

This is a very neat device and a great concept for keeping waste line out of our waterways. I think that this devices only drawback is the spool is unretained in the housing and is capable of separating and becoming lost. The two pieces should have a more positive method of coupling. I have had the spool fall out of the housing once while fishing. Fortunately I noticed and was able to retrieve it. It helps if the spool is screwed tightly into the outer housing. This would be a five-star device if the spool were better retained.

I love the idea of this product - there's no more convenient way to store discarded tippet and leaders. However, it comes apart way too easily. I have bought two of these and both have fallen apart on my lanyard while on the river. There's no locking mechanism to keep it from doing so. If you don't mind storing it in your sling pack or backpack it works fine, but I like having something like this to be within easy reach because I use it a lot on the water - hence having it on my lanyard. I don't think I'll buy another unless they fix the flawed design.

This tool is a great way to store tippet and leader waste instead of tossing it into a stream, river or lake. It's compact and super easy to use, just insert the line into the open slot and twist the shaft to catch all waste.

I have used other products including fishpond. While I think the price is high this thing really works - very easy to load loose tippet/leader.

Never wasted $18 on such a piece of garbage and now I am outside the 30 day window for returns. This POS falls apart as soon as you look away. Better keep it in a safe spot, because WHEN it falls apart the bottom half will be gone and the product no longer functional. Save your money.

I purchased a monomaster and a  Grasshopper Outdoor Products SeatMASTER, Mushroom/Orange  as gifts. I'v had a monomaster for about a year and absolutely love it. It's light and not bulky, but it works very well and holds a lot of waste line, and I can make quite a bit. I see a lot of discarded fishing line around all the time. I wish everyone would use a monomaster. Great product, happy to recommend.

Great if you need to captures your line rather than just throw it away in nature, killing animals and trashing a nice nature experience. I have always with me line I picked up from other sports fishers when I come home, its relatively easy to capture it in this contraption. It could have been easier with shorter line though.
