Bosch RA1126 Quick Change Template Guide Adapter

I agree that Bosch should have included this with the 1617evs. It a small price to pay, if you can find them. If Bosch wants to force us to buy this, they should force the retail stores to stock them. I bought my router at Lowes and they had no clue what I was talking about when I asked them if they carried this. Thankfully there is Amazon! It works like a charm. Others reviews have complained about how loose and wiggly it is, but I think they aren't installing it right. Mine is tight as a glove with no wiggle. The nice thing is, you move the lever and your bushing and adapter just pop right out. Then you can get easy access to your bit and collet. I like it!

Have a 1617 EVS router, mostly used in a table, but when I needed to do some pattern work, I found that you need this adapter, plus another adapter to use the standard Porter Cable template guides. This all sounded kind of flimsy to me and unnecessarily complex. However, once installed, this has worked extremely well. You will need a centering cone to align the base and templates if you have removed or loosened the base plate. Using this with a DadoWiz works just right for cutting dados. The dust collection attachment also fits perfectly with this in place. Good German engineering overrides 3rd world assembly. I really like the Bosch routers far better than Porter Cable and this adapter is slick.

Just remember this product does not work with the standard router base... If you are looking to buy this ensure you have the right router base for your palm router, I would recommend the Bosch PR011 Colt Router Plunge Base, after mounting to this base you will need to loosen the base plate and make sure you have a centering pin (Bosch RA1151 Router Sub-base Centering Pin and Cone) and place router guide template from your template kit larger than 1/2". Just a tip, careful with testing the quick change guide, the spring is not meant to be used unless on the base plate... once installed it is very solid and makes swapping router guides for dovetails very simple and fast. only reason I am giving this 4 stars is because it does not state in the description that it will not work with the out of the box base plate unit, it is quite large and it does not adapt to other router base plates without drilling new holes (not recommended). Overall for the price this unit is well worth it.

Before using this adapter I had only used template guides a couple times on my Porter Cable dovetail jig. That experience taught me that I wanted an easier way to setup and change out template guides. The Bosch quick change template guide is a good solution for me. It is very quick to change template guides because it only requires sliding a lever to unlock, drop in the guide, and then release the lever and it snaps into place.It took me a few minutes to figure out where and how to install the quick change guide and then to install templates but after I figured it out it seemed obvious so I attributed my minor confusion to user error.I have been very happy with the product.

This installs with just two screws and it's pretty much foolproof as it will only go into the router one way. if you want to use Porter cable bushings you will need yet another adapter for that. This is for Bosch template guides only. I ordered the Porter cable adapter as well, and it drops in without a problem, and feels very secure. If you're using a dust collection cone you will have to remove it to install bushings, but it's just a couple of thumbscrews. The Bosch plastic casing of the dust collection cone has an indentation for the little black knob shown in the picture, but it's not quite big enough to get your fingers in there. Overall a well-made adapter, and for the price seems fair to me. If this had the Festool name on it I'm sure it would be 45+ dollars. We can be thankful we own Bosch!

This is a 3-piece part with (2) metal sections connected only by a spring. The metal sections are cast and not machined. They are designed to move across each other to lock in the other, threaded part (which you will also need but they don't seem to sell them as a set). Cast parts do not slide very smoothly so it's definitely not a precision part. There is also a little plastic cap on the actuator lever that was cracked when it came out of the package. The cap is unnecessary but I super-glued it and put it back on anyway. When I first took the part out I moved the lever to see how the part worked and it fell apart in my hands. The (2) metal parts are just nestled together with a spring connecting the pieces. Once the part was attached to the router base (screws were included) it prevented it from coming apart but you should contain all the parts together when not installed to avoid losing any. I am awaiting a set of 3rd-party template guides to test it. The lock-down seems secure but I'll test it on scrap pieces first.

Easy to work with, once installed never have to worry about them. Great design and application. Upon receiving this, you may think it is poorly made, but I assure you that once installed any quirks you may notice are working as intended when properly installed.

I don;t know if I am the exception or not, but this adapter is not very good. It arrived with the black plastic knob cracked and it came apart the first time I moved it, However, the adapter can still be used without the knob as there is a metal tab under the knob. The bigger problem is that there is a spring loaded slide on the reverse side and the moving part is not retained so it keeps popping out of the round frame. I am less than impressed with Bosch engineering.

An absolute must have if you are using router guides. It's great! Once installed in your plunge router base, there is no need to remove it. It doesn't interfere with any of your router's functions or guides.

Got this for my Bosch MRC23EVSK. You need this insert for the RA1125 template guide. Excellent product. Love the quick swap feature from Bosch.
