Calypso Basics by Reston Lloyd 5 Quart Enamel-on-Steel Colander, Large, Seafoam

I actually ordered two, one 5qt and one 3qt in different colors - because I am bad at math, I assumed they'd be smaller than they actually were. The 5qt turquoise one was laughably HUGE, and unfortunately, mine chipped during the first use and the enamel came off around the handle. I believe it was probably damaged in shipping, but I returned it because I knew it was going to get worse, and I didn't want enamel in my food. The 3qt arrived separately, and it was intact and works well. The pink color is a touch odd - maybe more mauve than pink? Anyhow, it strains things, which is the job, and it has a nice foot and easy to grab handles. The turquoise color was stunning, and I am sad that mine broke - the 5qt would make a great fruit bowl or colander for a large family. I might order it again, as I really think it was a fluke. They are not the best made enamel I've ever seen, but the price was right! And the metal rim covering, which aesthetically I didn't love, actually helps prevent chipping, so that's a plus.

We love our new strainer!This strainer was made to last and it's beautiful too! I highly recommend purchasing the 5-quart especially if you are going to be cooking for your family or guests. It's very sturdy and cleans up beautifully! My guests were impressed and plan to buy their own. No more plastic strainers for this family we are in love.

I bought this about 6 weeks ago. I have only used it to rinse vegetables in cold water when I wash and prep them. Probably used it 5 times at most. On both sides, the paint by the handle has cracked significantly. Obviously this is a defect. Their websites says you can't return anything unless it's in the original packaging. This isn't, because I've used it. I inspected it when I got it and the paint had not cracked. This is clearly a product defect which only showed up when I started using the product as intended, which is in the sink, rinsing cold water over vegetables. For the money I paid, this is completely unacceptable.

This item arrived with a huge piece of the enamel chipped off. It also seemed cheaply made. I returned the item.I also looked specifically for a dishwasher-safe colander. This one arrived and the tag said “hand wash.”

I figured some pasta would end up in the sink passing through the large holes in this colander. It could be luck, but spaghetti and thin ramen brown rice noodles (from Costco) have not gone through. The draining water flows right out and doesn't back up. The 1.5 qt size is perfect for 1-2 people.Quality: There was a very sharp edge on the metal trim around the top that I filed down. Luckily I discovered it while unpacking it, or it would have taken a nasty gouge out of my finger or hand. The bottom trim was fine. I put a magnifying dome on the bottom to see if the dark parts around the holes are metal or the turquoise enamel. It looks like most of it is turquoise enamel wrapping around the edge, but there are a few tiny black dots that are most likely metal. Since I'm determined to eliminate plastic for food prep and storage, I'll use baking soda to remove any rust that shows up to keep this food-safe. Barkeepers Friend may be too abrasive for the enamel finish. I'd just use cheap, bulk baking soda.

Terrible quality. Opened the box and first thing I saw was a large chip in the enamel that had already started to rust. Upon closer inspection, the enamel didn’t fully coat the drain holes and they too showed signs of rust. Horrible product/company.

I bought this colander because the bottom is high enough that when put in the sink, the food does not hit the sink when draining. I have 2 others that are too low and threw them out when I received this one. Plus I love the color pink. I would recommend this colander.

Our whole house has a coastal/beach theme to it and these were the perfect addition to match that. I also love that they stand by themselves in the sink and are very sturdy and dishwasher safe!

I'm very happy with the quality!This is way bigger than I thought it would be. It fills up most of my kitchen sink.I tried to return it but the company wanted me to pay for the shipping. I took off one star because of that.Rather than paying to return it, I decided that I'll give it to a friend, and buy a smaller one for myself.Note: I am single, and live alone, so I don't cook for a lot of people.UPDATE: After using this several times, I've decided not to give it away after all. Even though it is larger than I need it to be, the extra room is very handy for rinsing various foods.

Just received this in the mail a couple days ago and I am very pleased. I've been needing a colander for a while but I couldn't find one that was cheap but also looked cute. I'm going to be using this mostly for washing fruit, beans, veggies, or straining pasta/noodles. I love the pink colour and I'm happy it is made with enamel. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because the little metal rim around the top seems to be a bit loose. I don't think it's coming off anytime soon, but it is a tad annoying. But honestly I probably won't even notice when I'm using it, I only noticed that while I was washing it. I also thought it might be cute to hold fruit in if I'm not using it!

Love it! Perfect size for rinsing a package of mushrooms or other smaller items. A really nice red enamel and steel colander. Goes great with a black and white kitchen - nice pop of colour. Really sturdy and good size handles. Well proportioned. Solid. Note that it will take up room in dishwasher because of the base.

Really nice. Had a hiccup with delivery but amazon replaced.I am really happy with this because the handles and bowl is one piece. So less likely to rust there.I will be extra careful to only hand wash and to dry right away.Hope it last. If it starts rusting I will update my review.

I commit to buying things when I read the review.This isn’t a quality product (in my opinion) all it does is look cute.Refer to the pics of how I received this item (chips all around the handles etc) for me, it’s not worth it for the price. Returning.Buyer beware!
