SOLID brass vs. the others!
I ordered and returned some other brass fasteners that were cheap and flimsy. These are the real deal and make the right impression if you're a writer.

Always good to buy the best
You know, you never complain when you get the best. These are perfect for screenplays. They are substantial and they won't slip through the 3-punched holes. Go with the best and never regret it.

Don't be a phony...
Hey, You! You got the next big movie script hot off the typewriter? Well, it won’t matter if you’re a great big phony that uses cheap flimsy dollar store brads to bind your screenplay. That’ll get your screenplay thrown into the scrap heap with the rest of those schmucks trying to break into the flickers business. No, sir, not you. You got moxie. You got the scoop, the skinny, the low-down, the nitty-gritty. No… You got yourself 1.25” Acco Solid Brass Fasteners holding your screenplay together, yessiree. Nothing but the best for you. You’re going places.Well, what are you waiting for, an engraved invitation? I thought you were smart, kid. You gotta be quick in this business. Can’t be sitting’ on your hands. No, sir. You’ll find yourself out on the street with your pockets turned out. You best smarten up, kid.

Why these are better than cheap supply store ones...
Having purchased some generic brass fasteners (which were not what I'd consider cheap price wise) from OfficeMax, I was worried that perhaps these would be a similar inadequate product. Not so. These Acco are indeed a quality product. They feature a better quality of brass, not so thin as to be fragile, and with a significantly larger head that truly secures the paper without receding into the punched holes. It doesn't surprise me these are considered industry standard for screenplays. Are there other brands as good? Maybe... but these do the job and aren't too pricey. One can only hope the manufacturer doesn't start to skimp, as whoever makes the OfficeMax ones seems to have done. Those are useless, these are great. Maybe get yourself a few boxes just in case. Also the slightly shorter legs leave less excess once you bend them out, without being too short.

These Are Handy
These are helpful in binding hole-punched papers and folders together. Recommended.

Terrible shipping
They're brass fasteners. And they work. But they were shipped poorly, in a too-thin Amazon-box that in no way protected the red & white box in the picture. That box had broken open and the postman even thought that the contents were broken and should be returned unopened.Plus, Amazon hasn't replied to my critique of the shipping (which they solicited). You're better-off buying from somewhere else than Amazon. Unless of course you WANT to store your brass fasteners in one of Amazon's too-large too-thin cardboard boxes.
