Good clamps. Design hasn't changed.
I've had ONE of these clamps for well over 20 years that has worked fine. But it's kind of silly to just have one since I almost always need more than one. I have other clamps, but I guess the OCD in me likes to have things balanced so I wanted to at least have a pair of these. ;-) I saw this one pop up on Amazon so I figured I'd bring home a sibling for the old clamp so it can have some company. In many cases, the new versions of things aren't as good as the older versions. I'm happy to say though, that these don't seem to have changed much since the original. As long as the quality of metal is the same, I'd say they are the same clamp. (other than the new one being shiny and clean and the old one showing a bit of wear and tear)They are a good medium weight clamp for general use. You aren't going to want to over-crank on them, but they can apply more force than most squeeze style clamps when you need it.Thank you, Bessy for not cheaping out and altering your design to make them worse.

Seriously, this is a big clamp
I read the previous review and thought, "How big can this thing be? I can use this as an everyday clamp. That guy must be a wimp." When it got here, I realized he was right. You could use it for smaller stuff, but why would you? I got these to get myself out of a veneering jam where I needed to put lots of pressure in the middle of a panel. They do the trick for that. These clamps are made very nicely. They are a definite step above the regular size tradesman clamps. The packaging is a little lacking (a cardboard envelope), but they weren't hurt, so I guess it is good enough. The picture shows a red wood handle, like other tradesman clamps, but it is delivered with a perpendicular sliding steel pin handle. It's probably a better choice for a handle with a high clamping pressure rating.I'm giving it a five star rating because it is a very well made, large, heavy clamp with lots of clamp pressure capacity, just like the description says.

little clamp that's a tool not a toy
I own Bessey K bodies from 12" to 96" and Bessey tradesmen clamps from 12" to 36" and the clamps that I use the most without a doubt are the smaller clamps for subassemblies, securing work to the bench, etc. These little 6" tradesmen clamps are my new go-to small clamp when I don't want an excessively long clamp bar hanging out from some work getting in the way etc. These little clamps are real tools not toys - they are very strong and give all the clamping pressure that you'd expect to get from a tradesmen clamp. I only bought 4 but will be looking to pick-up a few more as I'm very pleased with how they have become so useful in the shop.

When you need deep
Poorly packaged but arrived undamaged. Heavy clamp was breaking out of packing with inadequate packing materialContrary to other commenter, this IS made in Germany and not Asian import.Very heavy, but works great.

My $240 clamp did not have a steel swivel pad
I own about 100 different clamps. Roughly 30 of them are Bessey clamps. I ordered this 24” deep clamp specifically for a 26’ long zinc bar top. The clamp is beautiful and perfect for reaching deep into the 30” width for gluing and applying pressure for bending. However, receiving this clamp with no steel swivel has cost me time, materials and money. I spoke with Bessey customer service two weeks ago and they were very helpful and stated they would mail this out right away…two weeks ago. This is unacceptable and until Bessey makes this right, I’m switching clamp brands and rating this for what it’s “worth”. .

Good clamps
I bought 2 of these super quick 6 inch clamps for work use. I didn't really expect to use them nearly as much as I do. I tend to use them on pretty much every job that I am given to do. They have been so useful to me that I bought 4 more Bessey L clamps of various sizes. These clamps are far more useful to me than a C clamp due to the speed at which I can deploy one of theses clamps, whereas a C clamp requires so much more time to set up and operate. They are also more useful to me than Vise grip locking C clamp for the same reason. Pipe clamps don't even hold a candle to these clamps either. I should mention, though, that there will always be some jobs that you or I WILL need a good C clamp for, or a Vise grip or pipe clamp, but these clamps are what I get first out of my toolbox and they get the job done like nothing else can.

They solve the problem of the place you cannot reach
I use them in my shop for gluing parts up usually to a bench top. This clamp reaches that Back corner that is hard to get to. The clamps are heavy and strong.
