I needed this book for a class but ended up enjoying it beyond my course work.

What a valuable book. It's short, easy to read, simple, and profound. Read the first half of the book to get a great overview of what the Bible is all about. Read the second half as a handy reference for different genres and sections in the Bible. Are you reading through Isaiah? Pull out his chapter on the prophets to get some reading keys to take with you. Curious about the New Testament letters? Read his section on the epistles before, during, and/or after your Bible reading. In short, Longman's writing is accessible and practical-a trustworthy guide during anyone's reading of the Bible.

Great book, it's helpful to have a contextual idea of what the author is talking about.

You may think you know this stuff but chances are you are missing something. This book takes you on a journey to a fuller appreciation of reading the whole book of the Bible. It is a must for any serious student of theology.

Old Testament home run hitting author. Seriously, if learning the OT is important to you, Tremper Longman needs to be on your list.

Anyone wanting a deeper understanding of the Bible will benefit from reading "Reading the Bible with Heart andMind". A very illuminating book.
