Trees for Gardens, Orchards, and Permaculture

Amazing book
I recently bought 6 acres and was trying to decide what trees to plant. This book has helped immensely. Trees were included that I hadn't ever considered before or even knew existed such as a butternut. I look forward to implementing these trees into my permaculture design. What was also extremely helpful is the list of suppliers in the back of the book. It's great to give information about plants, but it doesn't do any good if you don't know where to buy them. This gives an extensive list of nursery's where you can buy the trees.

Approfondimento indispensabile
Dopo Creating a Forest Garden anche questo titolo è indispensabile nella biblioteca di chi progetta foreste commestibili. Il libro è composto da schede approfondite di molte piante. Consigliato! Purtroppo in lingua inglese.

Extremely useful book
I was really looking forward to reading this book when I ordered it, and Mr Crawford didn't disappoint. The book covers many tree species, giving information in all aspects that the grower could reasonably require to successfully obtain a yield from the trees. There is a wealth of useful information that I have seen nowhere else, for example as a grower of sea buckthorn (purchased from Mr Crawford of course) he explains the importance of letting the plant sucker and it's strong aversion to shade which i had not read elsewhere, despite having researched for several months on the internet. The photos are very nice and overall presentation of the book is superb, and very clearly laid out. Some cultivar lists have had to be left out due to lack of space in the book for these long lists which is understandable. I would highly recommend this fine book to any grower of trees or persons interested in this subject. Lastly, it is written from a UK perspective but has info equally applicable to growers in other temperate areas, Europe, North America etc.

I learnt a lot from reading it and I shall continue to enjoy revisiting it
This book is a timely masterpiece. For anyone with an interest in common and less common fruit and nut trees, this is an exciting new addition to the available literature. The information is clear and accessible with attractive colour photos through out. I learnt a lot from reading it and I shall continue to enjoy revisiting it. Thank you very much Mr Martin Crawford, you help to make a brighter future possible,

Informative and educational
This is an amazing book. Recommended to me by a friend, I am now referring to it constantly to identify trees and shrubs for my forest garden. Well presented, containing valuable information for anyone wishing to grow trees and shrubs particularly those with edible fruits and leaves.
