Alpha Heroine Mates with an Arrow
FINAL DECISION: A fast-paced, action packed entry in the series. I was amazed by the end to realize that only a few days had passed. Loved the alpha heroine queen and her devoted knight. The only negative is that is hard getting to know another changeling group. Hopefully, we will have all the main characters of the Trinity series soon so that every book is not a new group.THE STORY: Selenka Durev is an alpha wolf who meets Arrow Ethan Night and instantly knows that he is her mate. Selenka's pack is in danger as the Architect continues to make plans to disrupt the fragile peace of the Trinity Accord and build an empire for herself. Ethan believes himself damaged and operating on borrowed time before his mind becomes a weapon that must be destroyed. An mating between two strangers who have both been betrayed is difficult. There is something different about Ethan that the two must investigate while getting to know one another.OPINION: Enjoyable entry in the Trinity series. This was an interesting combination of personalities. Selenka and Ethan were definitely not what I was expecting. Having a female alpha changeling was great with different issues. I especially liked that Selenka is definitely just as ruthless as an alpha as Lucas and Hawke but gives the alpha role a different twist. (Valentin is the softie of the group -- but bears). Ethan is a different Arrow than what we have seen before as well. Singh is expanding and breaking her own constructs which only makes this series more compelling and complex with every book.Ethan's condition kept me interested to the end and I was not expecting what the resolution was. It was surprising and yet completely obvious once I knew the ending. Singh did a great job planting clues and yet not giving the game away.My only slight disappointment/complaint is that once again we are introduced to another new group -- BlackEdge. I'm hoping that now that we have three packs, the books will begin to explore more deeply the characters and dynamics we have already been introduced to. Much of each of these books in the Trinity series has to take time to introduce the particular dynamics and characters which is understandable but keeps this spin-off series from really rising to the levels of the original. Let's have some more BlackEdge, BlackSea or StoneWater characters!WORTH MENTIONING: There are some cameo appearances by beloved characters from the original cast, but they are only cameos.CONNECTED BOOKS: ALPHA NIGHT is the fourth book in the Psy-Changeling Trinity Series. It is also the nineteenth book in the Psy-Changeling series. A reader could pick up the series at the start of the Trinity series. While the story here is mostly self-contained and the romance is completely self-contained, there is so much world-building and background that a newcomer to the series might spend a lot of time trying to catch up.STAR RATING: I give this book 4.5 stars.NOTE: I received an eARC of this book via Netgalley. I was not required to write a review or to write a positive review. All opinions contained herein are my own.

Nalini does it again, can't wait for the next book
***may contain spoilers***I’ve been reading Nalini Singh since 2015 and that has caused her to make my automatic buy list. As soon as I get the notice her book is up for pre-order, I buy it. She comes out with two books a year on average, one for each of her main series. Both series have to be read in order to fully understand what is going on. While the second season series could possibly be started without the first season, I wouldn’t recommend it.Alpha Night is the latest in her “second season” Psy-Changeling series, Psy-Changeling Trinity. It continues the story line involving the Arrows, an elite group of soldiers with terrifying powers that have been exploited by one of the former council member, Ming LeBon. He tortured Arrow children in order to create a squad of killers. This book focuses on Ethan Black, a telekinetic who thinks he has the Scarab Syndrome where the end result is madness from the power hike the syndrome gives the sufferer. He has grown up in complete deprivation of touch, interaction and feelings of other people. The heroine in the story is Selenka Durev, Alpha of BlackEdge and badass female all around. She is a woman who understands the demands of being Alpha and puts that before anything else, even her own feelings. When Ethan and Selenka meet, it is mating at first sight. Neither could believe what happened but they are forced to put it on the back burner in order to take care of a situation involving the Empaths and someone manipulating them for violence. Throughout the book, the reader is shown the depth of devotion that Ethan has for Selenka. Ethan has all but given up on life, he thinks he is going to go mad and has plans to prevent that from happening. He sees himself as a killer and his power can only be used for murder. He does not see himself as a good person. Ethan doesn’t understand the loyalty from the other Arrows and Aden, the leader of the Arrows. He keeps himself separate, yet the group keeps including him. The mating with Selenka forces him to look at life differently and want to live. Selenka is all about being the best alpha for her clan. She puts her life and feelings on hold for her clan, even when it goes against her own needs. She doesn’t want to trust Ethan and is trying to figure out if he is truly a threat to her clan. Ethan teaches her that people who actually care will stick in her life, and not feel threaten by her power or expect her to put her alpha responsibilities on the back burner. In the end, they both realized that while the mating was weird in the circumstance of it being created, it was something that was meant to be for each other. They balance each other out and fit into each other’s lives perfectly. This book furthers the storyline of the Psy net falling apart and Psy people becoming violent and dying. Aden and Kaleb are trying to fix the net with the new help from Memory. While being called to help neutralize the damage, Ethan makes a comment about what he sees in the net, which turns out to be something the only one other person can see. He is able to use his ability to manipulate light to kill the “bugs” in the net. In the end, it’s still not enough to save the net and some difficult decisions are going to be made in future books.Nalini Singh is excellent at continuing a storyline, while also giving her character’s their own story. Each book is something different yet a continuation, so the reader doesn’t get bored with it. This has been the key into her continuing the original series, and creating this one without repeating stories. I was intrigued by this book and anxiously await the next book to come out. While I’m not a fan of cliffhangers, Nalini is one author I enjoy regardless of her cliffhanger endings.

A shifter and a Psy...
This book has some of what I loved most in the first book in the original series, a Psy truly trying to understand themselves, and discovering the freedom to do that among shifters. We’re in Russia now, and a lot has happened since that first book, we’ve gone from not knowing E-Psy exist, and living in Silence, to the fall of Silence, and discovering the E-Psy are essential to the health of the Psy net. Where the Arrows were once the Psy Assassins, they now control their own fates, and have declared themselves the protectors of the E-Psy.In that first book the humans, changelings and Psy were trying to operate three mostly separate societies, with a lot of mistrust and prejudice keeping them apart... now we are in the age of the Trinity Accord, a time of working together, and charting a new path.I loved that this book captured the growth of this Universe, while hardening back to what I loved in that first book. Here a wolf Alpha, Selenka, is surprised when her wolf leaps to form a mate bond with Arrow Ethan, a man she has known for less than a day. But the more she gets to know him, not only the more she likes, but the more she realizes her Wolf’s instincts were spot on.This book has Psy plots and intrigue, manipulations and back room plotting. It has pack dynamics, in interesting ways, and genuinely the best ways.

Great read. Complex, deep, and thoroughly enjoyable
I liked the journey and the passion that existed between the alpha wolf and her partner, the broken but very loyal mate. The way the emergence of one who thought he was broken, defective, into someone who was just the opposite was complex and thoroughly enjoyable. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys complex love stories.

Singh's Russian just got more interesting
If you haven't before discovered nalini singh's incredible psy-changeling trinity books, this is a lovely place to start. (As someone who started in the middle and then went back to start from the beginning, I can tell you that every book stands on it's own.) For those who are already fans, you won't be disappointed. My biggest complaint? Now I have fallen in love with the members of yet another pack whose stories I crave as much as chocolate and peanut butter. (Which, if you knew me, is a lot.) Once again, singh creates complex characters and a relationship with growth and development. Returning characters continue to feel like friends that you've missed seeing and are thrilled to be able to spend even brief time with again. And now, Ethan and Selenka are sure to be major additions to that list. (There is just something about Ethan and cubs that's irresistible. I need more. )

Loved it
I enjoyed this book, although it wasn't one of my favourites in the Psy-Changeling universe. As always, it was well-written and full of fun characters. I do love the mental image of the wolf cubs running around and being adorable. I also love the concept of the troublemaking bears (and I really hope we'll come back to them at some point!) It was an interesting story and had well-developed characters.Personally, I would have liked Ethan to be a bit fiercer. Of course, he's not an alpha, and he has been through a lot, but he IS still a deadly Arrow, and I would have preferred him to have a bit more bite to him. However, that's just my personal taste, and I DID like him. Selenka was a good character. Although she was a tough, confident alpha, there was also that layer of vulnerability hidden to all but those who were close to her.I do love that Kaleb Krychek dropped by. I'm not emotionally finished with him yet!Overall, I loved this book.

Good one.
Warning: I'm a big fan of Ms Singh. This is a good book. Not the best. Ethan and Selenka have a mating at first sight, which has never happened before in the series. ( Except Hawke and Rissa, but they were children so it doesn't count) So there is insta lust, but love is supposed to be slowly built. But here, Ethan is all out ready to slay her enemies. I liked that about him and its totally justified by his backstory. Selenka is considered the badass alpha and she is that. Also, she has total trust in her mate. It is refreshing to see a couple who totally trusts each other. There are no misunderstandings between them. And whatever secrets there are, are revealed without fuss.. Ethan's secret was kinda murky at first, but it was easy to figure out. The author threw a lot of clues at the reader from the beginning. That is one point I did not like about the book. The whole thing felt convoluted. We just had a book on a similar theme, with Memory. And this theme of 'will-die-soon- but-there's - a -last-minute-miracle-cure' thing is getting really old.The minor characters in this book remain minor except maybe Ivo. Compare this to Silver Silence where we had a lot of bears who still make an impact. Selenka' s wolves are forgettable. We have important cameos by the other alphas. Also, the Consortium is getting desperate and dumb. I don't know how else to describe all the wild happenings here.Events are coming together and going to a really bad end sooner than hoped. All together it's a good book. Not recommend to be read as a stand alone.

Another story I loved!
Everytime I cry and laugh out loud while reading (rereading...) each story because I felt in love with the characters. This one isn't an exception. I was very glad to know a couple with an alpha female because it isn't very common and the power balance create a new kind of relationship still fill of kindness and playfulness. Selenka and Ethan are one of my favorite couple and I can't wait to know how the story will continue following the ominous conclusion... Fascinating!
