Another Terrific Shoe in the GT-2000 Line
As a moderate runner who logs 12 miles around town each week, I've usually been happy over the years with Asics GT-2000 line. The latest addition to that line--the GT-2000 8 Running Shoe--feels lighter and more flexible than its immediate predecessors, but it still offers good lateral support and a nicely cushioned step. It's also an extremely handsome shoe. I bought mine in Grand Shark/Black and have gotten several compliments on how cool they look. Good purchase.

Terrible Redesign!
I have owned several pairs of the Asics GT-2000 5 shoes and they were excellent. Since that generation is no longer available, I ordered the GT-2000 8, expecting they would be even better. They are unwearable. The heal has been shortened and has very little structure compared to the old design. While the old design felt like it molded to my foot, the new design slips around uncontrollably! I'm going to need to find a different shoe to wear.

asics is my Go To brand & the GT 2000 is choice for my PowerWalk needs.
I have some special requirements (size & pronation support) and asics is my go-to brand. Customer Service was very helpful in identifying the best models for my PowerWalk needs - part of a critical rehab program. I always buy two pair (this time the GT 2000 & Kayano) and alternate daily.

Good Support - Not Long Lasting
Since I started running a lot, more than a decade ago, I have always used and had success with the Nike Structure Zoom. Late, last year I decided to try a different brand, just to see if I could find some even better. After reading articles on support shoes I settled on the GT-2000. When I looked on Amazon I found I love the design of these shoes. I think they look very sharp. When I first started running in them I got several blisters but the support was great. They never did fit quite as well as my Nike's but blisters did eventually stop. All in all they are great stability shoes. I have switched back to Nike, however. The ASICS only seem to give me 100 to 200 miles of running before they start to wear down and I experience aches and pains in my legs. The Nike Structure usually gives me around 400 miles before I feel any aches. I'm a big guy, 5'11, 200 pounds and I run consistently in the 8 to 9 minute pace range. So, someone lighter or who doesn't run as hard might get more mileage out of the ASICS. For me, they are good shoes, but the Nike's are still the best fit and comfort for me as well as being a better value, lasting so much longer.

Great fit, comfort and looks great in person! Highly recommended!
Received today and I'm very happy with the fit and it looks way better in person than the pictures. It is extremely comfortable. I've been wearing ASICS for over a decade mostly the gel kayano ones and I'm absolutely loving these GT2000-8. It's so good I ordered another 2 pairs in different color. These do look like they will hold up better than the previous ASICS because the tops where my toes are is much thicker instead of a super thin layer. The foot area is a bit wider so my toes don't feel as squished and should help relieve the side pains after weeks of daily treadmill exercises. The fit was spot on as well. After these 3 pairs I will definitely try for the Gt2000-9 or 10 series when there is a sale.

Not a bad shoe at all!!
I previously owned a pair of Asics GT-2170 Gel runners, and finally had to replace them. These were by far the best pair of runners I've ever owned. So I replaced them with a pair of GT-2000 8 runners. On a scale of 1 to 10 (with the old ones being a 10) I'd rate the GT-2000 as a 9. It's a really good shoe. The only knock on the new shoes is he width of the heel and the tighter mess composition. Small nitpicking, I know.

Poor Quality
DISLIKE BUYING THESE FROM AMAZON. I don’t wear them running. They’re worn indoors for work due to my back. As you can see, after 2 month they’re in EXCELLENT condition HOWEVER see that nodules/knobs on outside/rear on the bottom have both cone off. I can’t return to ASICS because I bought them on Amazon. So here I am now with 100+ dollar pair of tennis shoes in excellent condition except for the rubber Nigel’s coming off in the same spot on both shoes.

Small annoying defect
Since this is Covid and I needed new running shoes, I ordered online because I had bought 3 different pairs of Asics running shoes over the years and I was pretty confident about how the fit would be. Unfortunately the lining in the back of the right shoe (upper heel counter?) was mishapen out of the box. It's not super uncomfortable but it is annoying every time I use them. I would have returned them, but again it was early covid and all the stores were closed and I needed running shoes.

A great step-up from conventional sneakers
I won't mention fit or performance as these criteria will vary quite a bit depending on the buyer. I do however consider these shoes to be a great value for anyone looking to upgrade from generic sneakers / running shoes.I was using a beat up pair from a big box store and it eventually led to a fairly bad case of shin splints. I was still a bit skeptical about the price-to-performance ratio, and on the overall level of comfort a 100$+ pair would bring. I've put them on as trainers for a few days, then went for a full 5K, on pavement. It basically felt like running it on grass, even with moderate pain from the shin splints (not fully healed). The difference is very appreciable, these shoes have terrific absorption while being soft and light (perfectly snug). By far the most comfortable running shoes I've ever owned. Not sure about durability yet, but from my first week with them, I can tell the GT-2000 8 will prove to have been a worthwhile investment.

Great walking shoes, very comfortable.
Extremely comfortable and the fit is perfect. I walk at least 10 kilometres everyday and these shoes are perfect. They give lots of support and also they are great quality and very stylish. I’ve had several pairs of ASICS over the years and this particular style is great.
