Take It to Your Seat Phonics Centers, Grades 2-3

These sets of phonics lessons are fun, lively, engaging, and effective. From consonant sounds to vowel blends and silent letters, these activities are currently being enjoyed by my 2nd grader, who is a self-professed phonics hater. As he goes through the activities, I'm pretty sure he forgets he practicing phonics. I don't tend to use the centers as alone-work right now but rather as games he and I can play together; however, I have plans for him to go back through all the centers independently later in the school year.The sheets are colorful and bright with friendly, high quality pictures. The activities themselves are a refreshing break from standard workbooks and worksheets, which don't bode well for some types of learners. I like that there is an element of written work, though, so we can keep track of student progress.The one and only downside to this series is the time it takes to cut everything out. I would give it ten stars if the cards and sheets were only perforated! But that's a small gripe. It really only took me around 10 minutes to cut and sort, photocopy and tuck everything into a folder per lesson. For the price and quality of product, I'll do it!If using these centers in a classroom or for many children, the pieces will need to be laminated to reduce damage. Just something to keep in mind.

This is a wonderful supplement to any structured reading program! The varied activities keep the children engaged and wanting to learn more! Love this phonics booster!
