Superb book about a superb band
At last, a book about Camel! I like the format and the writer clearly knows his research. I discovered many new informations. Will 100% recommend.

Trackeoscopy
I enjoyed Hamish's book and would like to thank him for writing it. It's really nice to see something published on Camel. I've followed Camel since the 1976 Moonmadness tour so I know quite a lot about the band already but there were lots of new bits & pieces to learn. It's written with an enthusiastic fan's approach to their work and I would imagine anyone who likes the band would enjoy this too. It's very thorough in terms of the tracks but of course we can always hope for a more in depth book at a future date.

Disappointing, lacking depth and new information
As a major Camel fan I was looking forward to reading this book to obtain greater insights into the fantastic band. But this book is disappointing and really not written by someone who knows the band and their work. There was no attempt to interview current or past band members to add authenticity to the work. As a literary piece it is also poorly written and the anecdotes and comparisons with other bands simply just don't work. There are several omissions because it seems that the author has only relied on limited sources, and not even contacted a range of fans, for example many Camel fans will have vinyl copies of Greasy Truckers which does not even get a mention. There is little use of the Camel Productions site. There is a listing and description of 'every track' (except 'God of Light') and some individual songs, but the analysis is weak and really misses the mark in terms of the appreciation of this brand of music. Perhaps Andrew Latimer can get together with a decent writer to produce a genuine history and discography of the band?

Slightly disappointed
Shame that there is not enough information on what the song is about

Keep the opinions to yourself
This book does what it says on the cover in that it lists every song from every album and more. However, I have only given it 2 stars as the author spends too much ink telling us his opinion which is not what I wanted to read

Lively, colourful writing
I am not a fan of prog rock but I do like lively, colourful writing. The author really brings the experience of enjoying the music alive, and there are personal touches, about the author’s experience of discovering Camel in his youth and from the surviving members of the band that show he interviewed then for new, up-to-date material. The format of this series dictates much of the style but Kuzminski really develops the narrative. Perhaps the aficionados will have their own personal take on the big hits and evolving story of Andy Latimer and co; you can’t please everyone all the time, but Kuzminski certainly whets the interest of this classical music fan.

Camel historical summary, through interesting narrative of their albums
This book, from the collection "On Track..." appears as an important asset on the history of Camel as one of the most relevant bands in progressive rock. In the costume of this collection, the book perfectly fulfills its purpose and practically all the important information about the Camel albums is there.A more introspective work about this magnificent band and its different members over these five decades of existence and even its prehistory remains to be edited, but I recommend this book to all fans of Camel and progressive rock in general. Five stars therefore!
