The Chemistry of Aromatherapeutic Oils 3rd Edition

The book looks brand new except for the name on the inside cover. What I like the best about this purchase is that I saved over $100 over the new price and it came from Goodwill so I am helping others through my purchase making this a win-win situation. Also it came earlier than expected. Yay!

My son loves this book and showed it to one of his chemistry professors, he was also impressed and said it could have been used as a textbook!

This book is frequently used as a "textbook" in aromatherapy schools to teach essential oil chemistry. The book is well written and a good guide to EO chemistry. My major complaint is that the author attempts to assign or connect therapeutic properties to chemical groups/families (aldehydes, esters, monoterpenes, etc.). This overgeneralizes and oversimplifies volatile organic molecules. The research clearly shows that chemicals in the same family can have different therapeutic and toxic effects. Therefore, properties should generally not be assigned to chemical families, but rather individual chemicals be evaluated for their unique properties.

Absolutely love the book. Connecting the dots with the chemistry of essential oils, makes it easier for me to help our others understand the science behind the great products available through nature.The organized presentation of material makes it easy for a novelist understand.

This book is an excellent, informative read for anyone looking to study more deeply the chemistry of essential oils. I think it is best suited to those who already have some background/foundation in the chemistry of essential oils, but it could be a valuable resource to intermediate users as well. It's a must-have for any true aromatherapist's library.

Very good book. The author is very knowledgeable. The style of writing is straightforward. She starts out explaining a lot of things and then gets deeper into the chemistry. I know I will learn a lot from this book.

There's a lot of good information in this book. All of my other books have a little info and a lot of recipes, this book answers questions about chemical compounds and elements and atoms. I wanted more and this definitely is giving me something to chew on.

Great referwnce book full of information. Helped me better understand the chemistry side of Aromatherapy, which I was struggling with.

Very nice, easy to read book explaining the chemistry of essential oils. Just enough details so even the ones who are not interested in chemistry will not be troubled with the book. If you want to really know your oils and why they do what they do, if you want to make informed decisions about your blends - you have to study their chemistry. Great book, highly recommended!
