The Ultimate Car Sun Shade
Living in Florida, I get a sun shade like these for every car. I have tried them all from the old cardboard ones to the thin foil-and-foam types to those weird springy ones you have to use jujitsu to close. These Cover Craft screens are the best, which is no surprise given Cover Craft's history as a top-quality maker of car covers. The sunshade looks great, fills up the whole windshield area, and reflects a lot of heat. You can tell when you pull them down and the silver (outward facing) side is quite hot, while the darker, inside-facing side remains cool. Once in place, you just see that the car is dark and the dashboard is no longer in the sun. These shades are thick, heavy and stiff, which is presumably why they work so well. They last well too -- I imagine they won't last forever, but I have put a couple of them through five-day work weeks outside in the full, murderous Florida sun with no signs of wear and tear. Bear in mind because of their size and weight, they can only be folded, not rolled, and will occupy some space in the car when not in use. Mine fits nicely between the passenger seat and the door when folded.Make sure you get the right size -- these are cut for specific makes and models of cars, which means they give full coverage and fit snugly, but they likely won't work with the wrong car. This model fits perfectly in my 2016 VW Golf GTI.Highly recommended if you want a heavy, durable, custom-fitted sunshade that really works and don't mind paying a bit extra.

Beats back the AZ sun
I'm trying to figure out what the other reviewers are complaining about? This is the 2nd Covercraft window shade, and it's been perfect. AZ is extremely hard on anything outdoors, and these have lasted, fit and worked better than any sun shade I've used. And living in AZ my whole life, I've used so many sun shades over the years. The cheap ones just don't last here. It's worth the extra money, and it fits great. I don't care if it slips down a little between the glass and dash, still a better fit than a cheap one.

Wow, this is what a sunshade should be!
I'm a big believer in sunshades. They really keep the interior cooler, and protect the dash and interior from the long-term harmful affects of the sun. Before buying this shade, I literally bough every shade that they sell in the two big auto parts stores. Returned them all. A friend suggested Covercraft. Expensive, yes. But worth every penny! It fits like a glove in the windshield. I couldn't be happier. I've got one in my wife's car (GTI), and one in the family's SUV. My wife uses it religiously - it makes that big a difference!

Fits Mk7.5 windshield like a glove... but..
As the headline says, it's nearly a perfect fit. That's the reason I gave it only 4 stars. It fits TOO well, If it was smaller by about another 1/2" on each side and 1" off the top, it would be MUCH easier to get it in place and remove it. I can see if you're trying to pull it off the glass in a hurry, it would hit the rearview mirror and knock it off. I don't have access to a Mk7 to verify, but I assume the front windshield is the same size.Plus side.- It's well made and sturdy, much like the one I had for my MINI R56. I suspect that was made by Covercraft as well. That one lasted about 7 years before the areas around the creases started to crack and the paper layer started to flake off. So I expect the life expectancy to be similar.- It's not the thin roll of foil that VW sells.- Clears the camera/wiper sensor as well as the rear view mirror (just barely).Minus side.- As stated before, it fits too well, there's very little wiggle room. Maybe if you're getting this for long term storage, this could be a plus. For daily use, I think i'll get very tired of having to finesse it out of position very soon.- It's large. I know it can't be helped because of how large the windshield is, but it's a little unwieldy moving it into and out of position. I hit my passenger in the face taking it off. Oops. (The foil reflector from VW would be much easier to use if you can get used to rolling/unrolling.)- The small "wings" on the side actually make it harder to get into place. I may just end up taping it down in the future, just so it's out of the way.- Price. For what it is, it's pretty spendy. The one I had for the MINI was only $39.99 and it came w/ a storage sleeve. Same exact construction, mostly cardboard & plastic. Granted, that was almost a decade ago, but inflation isn't that strong. As of this writing, my local dealer sells the foil reflector for $28, so you decide whether this is worth double the cost. If you can find this on sale, that's when I'd get it.Also as an alternative, my local tint shop will put in nearly clear 3M film on the front windshield (technically illegal, but almost undetectable) for not much more at $100. That would cut a lot of the heat and uv entering the cabin space without the hassle.

Love this sun shield!
Well made. Fits my 2016 GTI very well. Maybe a half an inch gap on the sides but it’s negligible. Previously tried Weathertech and their “laser measured” sun shield, but they were a joke - about 6 inches too tall (seriously!). They sent me three of them to try and they were all exactly the same. I finally had to get a full refund. This one is ssooooo much better!

Looks good, but it is expensive
Looks good, but it is expensive, and bulky. The description mentioned that it has a perfect fit for the model selected, but in my case it has like one inch on each side where the sun leaks, but it does protect the car.

Fits perfectly on my 2019 Golf S
This doesn't specifically list my model year, but it was cheaper than the one I was "supposed" to buy. This one fits my 2019 just fine. It is pretty snug fitting it in around the rear view mirror but not an issue that bothers me.

Great thick sunshade perfect for sunny California
Great thick sunshade perfect for sunny California. Fits well in my MK7 Golf/GTI though there is space on the sides and around the sensors behind the rear-view mirror. Looks fantastic from the outside. Folds and stows between the passenger-side seat & door or on top of the cargo privacy cover.
