Meaningful outcomes take time and consistency
Sadly, because of the current restrictions and my closed gym, I am limited as to how much I can get into following the MAP programme at his time. However, I really love the underlying theory and the way this is laid out. Very easy to understand and gives me just the right amount of background to motivate and inspire, without getting too in depth. I had Chronic Fatigue for many years and more recently suffered chronic hip pain, both of which in my opinion were down to a poorly conditioned and stressed out body and mind! Now I have the knowledge to build a strong and resilient body and mind based on the brilliant Strength Matters 'Hierarchy of Athletic Development'. Can't wait to get stuck in!

Fantastic book for anyone who wants their training to MEAN something!
Maximum Aerobic Power is a fantastic book for anyone who wants their training to MEAN something: There is more to training than just lifting heavy weight: why do you ACTUALLY train? Does your training IMPROVE your life? For me, the goal was to become a better, fitter Field Hockey player: Deadlifts and Bench presses wouldn't be the answer to improve my play: This is where James Breese vision and approach to training is brilliant: training with purpose, for a purpose. I love that the book has a perfect mix of science, explaining why the training plans are the way they are, and training plans, which you should follow to the letter: Trust the process!Overall, wether your goal is to be better at rugby, football, ski, snowboard, hockey, or simply just fitter, this is the book for you! Can't wait for the next book(s) in the series!

Must have for fitness enthusiasts
Very well written and full of valuable information. As a 31 year old high school teacher and martial arts instructor. I struggle to have time for my own training. Opting for short workouts that just make me feel more tired and recently have been feeling less athletic. This book is exactly what I needed. It has answered a lot of questions and has helped me realise exactly the course of action I needed to take. James has produced a clear and concise plan for the first stage in becoming an everyday athlete!

Excellent read where you can put what you learn from it to practice
This is an excellent read , brilliantly illustrated throughout. It’s contents are set out where it explains the basics and builds from there. I didn’t know the difference between Aerobic and Anaerobic threshold until I read this and it explains how you can train to maximise these. The workouts are challenging as well. If you want to know more about cardio it’s a must buy, actually if you are into any kind of fitness it’s a must buy.
