Good midrange driver!! Clear and crisp mids!! Excellent value!!!
These are replacing some 100 watt rms soundstream bullet cone mid drivers.....I was happy with them but I rolled the suv that they were in and it broke one of the pair....I didn't realize it when I pulled the it out of the door( must've broke one of the speaker's leads to the voice coil and caused an open.......anyhoo...I went to install it into my 74 c10 stepside and it didn't work...so I ordered 2 of the ds18 mid drivers (only 1 per order) at 27.90 each....they work well in the frequency range they are designed for....they are loud and clear at the 60 watts I am pumping into them....they cross over at 120 hz and I have the at a -8 dB slope on my pioneer head unit....they can handle about 2x more power than what I am feeding them rite now...so there is room for expansion when I get a more powerful amp.....I must say that so far I am way happy with them at the measly 60 watts I have them at now....in my single cab, relatively small interior I can hear them loud and clear and they sound much better than any other speaker that I have purchased over the years..... i am really impressed with the vocal clarity too....i can hear the lyrics in the music i listen to almost word for word....I listen almost exclusively lyrics to 90's-2000's progressive rock and heavy metal....Tool, Disturbed, RATM, Chevelle, Nickleback, Soundgarden....etc....I also might add that I play drums in a old man bar band type band, so. I like to. Hear the kick Drum loud and clear(and feel it pound) and the rest of the drums too...these speakers do not disappoint!!! Vocals and crunchy distorted guitar sound good with.out making the speakers sound overdriven at all...i'm still playing a bit with the levels but so far the are the loudest speakers in the truck!!! In fact i can't really balance the rest of tje system to my liking yet...( ordered a better 12 inch sub to handle more power fro. My cadence 800 watt 1 ohm sub amp cuz the kicker cvr starts to smell like burning voice coils real bad at just 25 % volume. Rite about where i start to like the volume level....its clear and loud from the 4 channel amp but the sub starts cookin' so I have turn turn it way down to keep from popping the sub just yet...will wait till new sub comes b4 I start getting sound levels to my preferred settings....cuz I don't wanna go with out for couple days with no tunes on my commute to work...it's also probably worth mentioning that I had one pair the 4" drivers ( no 2 ways with tweeters built in) just dedicated 4 inch mid drivers in the back of my 99 Isuzu rodeo that could handle 100 watts rms ...those were my first pair of Ds 18's!I had them wired in parallel with another set of 4 ohm off brand type budget speakers...the 120 watt 4 channel amp was seeing a 2 ohm load from the back four speakers and a 4 ohm load from the front component soundstream bullet mid 6" and 2 inch horn setup in the front doors..100watts / channel at 2 ohms and like 60 at 4 ohms....the little 100 watt 4" zpeakers i Had above the lift gate were ds18s !! That's what made up my mind to purchase the 6.5's i got ..I'm definetly buying a decent ds 18 components package for the front doors as soon as I can justify the expense....then a more powerful 4 channel ds 18 amp to handle the potential wattage of the speakers as $ and desire for loud Tunes becomes more important....there always seems to be room for improvent...i will stay with the ds 18 boys cuz really really do like the ds18 product line!! The way I figure it the price is very reasonable for the sound quality that u get fron these ds18 guys!! I will probably never go with another brand of speakers!! Ds 18 is comparable in sound quality and and much better in price range than any other speaker brand I have heard or bought over the years!!! And I have heard and bought alot of speakers in my day (53 years old) and stiil rockin!! I highly recommend them to anybody!! I am a ds 18 man from now on....I will probably even buy one of their 4 channel amps too when it is time to upgrade to more power....cuz I like it loud!!! ....

Do your research first as these are 8 ohm. No hardware either.
Great quality for the price, keep in mind these are 8 ohms. Majority of car audio is 2 ohm or 4 ohm. You can use them with a 4 ohm amp but the power will be quite a bit less (ex. A 600w 4 ohm amp will really only send about 300w of power to these) so do your research first. I had an old 8 ohm home surround sound reciever laying around so I used that to power these and it sounds amazing. As for car applications these would not be my first choice. Did not come with terminals to connect to speakers. For next to nothing they could include these, some screws and maybe speaker covers (i installed in an RV that can use covers). Thats my only complaint. Still get 5 stars though because these are a good deal.

Speakers sound amazing and for the price you can’t go wrong with it. Very easy to install and very durable. The quality of the speakers is super clear and have no static.

Frequency Response: 60Hz to 10KHz. 8 Ohms 220W RMS. Note: this is a 10 inch mid-range speaker.
This info is for the: DS18 PRO-GM10 Loudspeaker - 10" Mid-range 220W RMS, 8 Ohms. Recommended Frequency Response: 60Hz to 10KHz. into 8 Ohms at 220W RMS I like the double cloth surround suspension, cloth is nice, lasts a lot longer than foam. It may be slightly air passive if used in a sealed cabinet, which could be useful for certain acoustics, mid, to high mid range. A 2 inch voice? Very Nice!. You should break the speakers in for the first time when they're new! I sometimes forget about this little fact myself. This takes time and understanding, also, this can sometimes be a way to find out whether you got new or used speakers. Breaking in a speaker is the process of gradually wearing in new speakers so they sound the way the manufacturer intended. It involves playing music or other content through the speakers to loosen up the moving parts, which can improve the speaker's dynamics and overall response. With that said, for these speakers it's probably not wise to overdo it since these are mid-range speakers and not woofers or tweeters. Think of it like breaking in new guitar strings. These speakers have a vented port on the back of the magnet, this can offer a great purpose depending on the application: * it can regulate air pressure, * prevent overheating, and * release trapped air, * and may make better magnetic strength to the voice coil. Note: these are not woofers, they are 12 inch mid-range speakers. These work very well if your system is lacking mid-range sound, frequencies ranging around the 60Hz to 10KHz mark. And audio frequency refers to the rate at which sound waves oscillate or vibrate. I tend not to go over the RMS (Root Mean Square) and Nominal value, the limitations of this speaker type. The more you go past the RMS at higher amplitudes for long duration's, the more the voice coils start to become warm if not hot, and we don't want that. If you start to smell something cooking, you went too far with the test. When talking about wattage, it's important to know about any speakers maximum and minimum frequency range, and the amplitude that you should drive a speaker at. My only complaint is the magnet to the basket is not snug, it's loose and has a tendency to vibrate. Hold the speaker by its magnet and bump it with the bottom part (flat line) palm of your hand. If you don't notice anything unusual or abnormal, then you don't have the problem I have. I bought two of these, and they both do the same thing. * Voice coil check:.....okay * Used speaker check:...no, Speaker is New. * Basket rattle check:..yes Over all, these are very nice speakers when used for their intended purpose.

Worth the Money I Spent.
Man these babies sound great for just being powered by the head unit only. Noticed the difference as soon as I plugged them in and boy do they sound better than my cheap pioneer speakers I kept. My only gripe is, I wish they came with some wire to connect them with, but other than that, it's worth the price I paid for it. For my 06 Toyota Tundra, the speaker kinda fits the factory speaker adapter, but needs careful adjusting to get all 4 screws in. Can't wait to hear them when I get a 4 channel amp.
