Stansport Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Dutch Oven

This is such a versatile little cast iron Dutch oven. I have been wanting a cast ion mortar and pestle and so far the largest one I have found is 16-ounces and I ended up ordering it. The pestle is great -- very heavy and solid and it is very sturdy. However, the mortar doesn't quite measure up -- it seems rather small in comparison to the pestle and it is also considerably lighter in weight than I expected + the sides and base are fairly thin (for cast iron, anyway). I thought this Dutch oven might make a good substitute for the mortar even though it doesn't have the usual rounded bottom. It works perfectly! And the entire construction is very heavy and robust with very thick sides and base. This will be useful for so many other things, too. I like the cute shape and I'll be using it for butter on baking day, for BBQ sauce when grilling and it is excellent for small meals for just one. I like the heavy-duty lid, too; it has a flat top to allow coals to be placed on it if the oven is to be nestled in a campfire and there is a ridge around the inner circumference to help keep it in place, but still allow enough movement so I can actually open it when I want to. The logo and little loop handle has a charming, vintage look, too. Of course, being made of cast iron, this will need occasional seasoning. The price is fantastic, as well. This 2 qt cast iron Dutch Oven is lovely! Exactly as pictured, 4" tall with lid, 3" tall without lid. 8" across top (diameter), slightly narrower at base. I plan to use it to oven bake sourdough bread, exactly the size I wanted, plus it's short enough to fit in my small, RV oven AND my toaster oven! It's heavy and looks durable, haven't actually used it yet.

Will still need to add a few more seasonings . Perfect size for 2-4 people. Heavy built, should be able to last a life time. I was just informed I needed to fetch it from the RV . I did so immediately. Cant wait to see what’s on the menu.

Bought this to use on the grill. Was so happy with it we bought another one.

My 90 year old father was wanting a cast iron Dutch oven but he eats only a small amount anymore and all the Dutch ovens are way to large for dad to handle and requires making way to much food for him to eat. So when I saw these little one quart ovens I purchased two. One for a gift to dad and one for us to play with and try out on little dishes. The Stansport Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Dutch Oven comes as advertised. It is seasoned well, has a nice lid and the lifting handle is not necessary, but an added little bonus.This oven makes a great gift for anyone who is older, or single and loves cooking small dishes with cast iron. I highly recommend this little unique Dutch oven.

It is exactly 2 quarts right to the rim of the pot. So in actuality your real useable volume would be around 8-10 ounces less than 2 quarts if you need the head room should the pot boil. Other than that is a perfect size for a two person meal.

This is a good set of cast iron, it’s worth the money and it will keep being worth it years down the road. They do benefit from some seasoning, but all cast iron does.It can be used on a glass top stove but it’s best not to use it over a fire and then take them back to a domestic kitchen as the soot gets everywhereCast iron pots are awesome and these are a good place to start on a set. They give you extra iron in your diet and are generally better for you then most nonstick cookware.They’re more work than regular pots, you have to use a scraper and you have to use oil to temper and either bake or boil the food particles out of the pot. Everything needs to be carefully tended and you must never ever throw them in the dishwasherBut they make food taste delicious and it’s worth the trouble to make more nutritious food
