Strong but heavy
This is a heavy duty shovel. The blade and shaft are strong. Probably the only bad thing I can say about it is that it is heavy. It’s a good value for suck a sturdy shovel.

This shovel is no joke
I recently purchased an all-metal shovel with a welded handle, and I must say that it has been a game-changer in my yard work. This is a heavy-duty tool that is built to last. One of the standout features of this shovel is the fact that it is all metal. The blade is made from a thick, durable material that can easily dig into the toughest soil and move heavy loads of dirt and debris. Additionally, the handle is welded directly to the head, which gives the shovel an incredible amount of strength and stability. I've used this shovel to move rocks, dig holes, and even break up tough tree roots, and it has held up exceptionally well.Another great feature of this shovel is its ergonomic design. The handle has a comfortable shape that fits snugly in your hand, and it provides a good grip even when your hands are wet or sweaty. The length of the handle is also just right, allowing you to use the shovel without having to stoop too much or strain your back.Overall, I am incredibly impressed with this all-metal shovel. It is a well-made tool that is perfect for heavy-duty yard work. If you're looking for a shovel that can handle tough jobs and last for years to come, this is definitely one to consider.

This is an amazing shovel. Unlike some others seem to think ***3 year update***
This is an amazing shovel. Unlike some others seem to think, I do not find it that much if any heavier than other heavy duty shovels that I have used. I bought this to replace a shovel made by a long time American tool brand that is supposed to be guaranteed forever but no longer stands behind their products. This shovel is very stiff even when I put my full weight on it to pry dirt out of the hole. I do not feel like it will break. The wide foot pads are comfortable to jump on even in rubber boots with minimal foot support. The handles does not seem any longer than other standard shovels and is a comfortable girth and shape. The angle of the head is good. One of the only drawbacks I can think of is the fact that it did not come sharpened. This is a minor inconvenience that anyone with a little DIY skill can take care of. It was also poorly packaged and hanging out of the box a little bit.On a funny note, it does conduct electricity. I was digging up a pipe in some moist ground when I lost my balance and by instinct grabbed for the closest object to steady myself which happened to be an electric fence that I have for my cattle. I got shocked both where I touched the wire and the hand that I was grounded through the shovel with. At least no one was around to hear me yell.*** Update: I have been using this shovel for about three years now. It still is holding up. The powder coating has faded some and is no-longer glossy and has worn off on the cutting edge but who cares??? it is a ranch tool. I have continued to beat the crap out of this shovel, throw it in the back of trucks, jump up and down on it to drive it into hard ground and then lever on it with my full weight and I still have not even flexed it. I will take back part of what I said in my original review, it is a little heavier than a normal shovel but not much heavier (if any) than a heavy duty shovel. I am in the process of replacing a couple thousand feet of fencing. As I have been auguring the holes, I have carried two shovels on the tractor with me. I use a lighter one for clearing lose dirt from around the post holes but all the real digging has been with this shovel. In terms of garden or outside hand tools, this is by far the best I have bought. It is well worth the money. If I have not managed to destroy in in three years of farm tough use, it should last a general home owner a life time. If you need a heavy duty shovel look no further.

The digging shovel has amazing leverage
I have used this shovel weekly for 9 months of heavy landscape work. It is the primary tool for digging out 2 feet of bamboo rizomes from heavy clay-a really tough job I would not use any other shovel for. We've cleared out over 100 sqft so far, and there has been no warping of the spade or handle. I can use my entire body weight as leverage, and it performs beautifully. It is not the most lightweight shovel, but I don't have to baby it, and the job gets done. I 100000% recommend it. We now have his and hers shovels, so we don't fight over who gets the good shovel anymore.

A great shovel.
Previously, I bought other manufacturers shovels with mixed results for standing up over time. I decided to purchase a Fiskar shovel. Wow, is this an excellent shovel. It is a high quality shovel and is constructed extremely well. I was impressed with the design and the strength of the construction. This shovel is definitely built to last. Again I was impressed I bought over types of shovels from Fiskars. They were built to last and never regretted the purchase. Very highly recommended.

favorite garden shovel for most needs
This is the best overall garden shovel for my needs. It is a little heavy for me, but sturdy so far. I love the foot step and the handle. I can dig up grass I do not want in the yard with no issues. I like the length of this as well, it is perfect for this type of work. I do not know how it cuts through roots yet, but so far I love this. I doubt if it will cut through big wisteria roots well, but for anything else it seems able to handle it fine!

I am buying another one!!!
This is a fantastic transplanting shovel. The FISKARS quality is there. I love everything about it. The grip/handle is solid and comfortable, the actual shovel is great quality and has a nice wide section at the top that allows you to position your foot to push the shovel into the ground. The only thing is that it is a tall shovel - I am 5'6 and I could use it as a crutch if I got injured planting the 250 trees I just purchased to plant on our property. It's perfect for my 6'3" brother... he loves it too.
