I've been using my light for well over a year now. This unit has a lot going for it. The light has two settings, bright and dim. I don't find much use for the dim setting, although it could be useful in a live setting where you don't want quite so much light on stage. I mostly use the bright setting, which is more than adequate for anything I put on the music stand. The unit can be plugged in, or it can work on batteries. This is a great feature, since I sometimes take it to rehearsal. Batteries seem to last a long time. The clip is strong and works well on a music stand. I like the fact that it can stand on its own on a flat surface, too. The gooseneck is sturdy yet flexible. Add it all up, and you have a very versatile light that works well in a variety of situations. The price was right, too. If there's a downside, it's that the base/clip is rather bulky. Considering the positives, however, this unit still gets five stars.

The great thing about this light is it works with batteries or with a power cord--your choice. The battery approach is great for work on stage, or in an orchestra pit where messy power cables can get in the way and trip up your fellow performers. The power cord method works well at home for long practice sessions. Either way, the LED lights are bright, they illuminate at a minimum two sheets of music side by side as well as keyboard. Because I'm using long scores of up to five pages spread out at a time across my music stand, I purchased two lights, and they are lightweight enough that the two clip easily to my music stand and their weight is feather-light. They do not have any impact on the stand. This product is absolutely a godsend for the musician on the go, but also for people with aging eyes whose conventional home illumination is not quite enough to do the job. These lamps are lightweight, but pack a whopping light source for your needs, and the LED lights do not heat up. The lamps remain cool to the touch throughout an entire two hour performance or practice session. I can't recommend them highly enough.

I had high hopes for this light. It was described very nicely and has very good reviews, but I do not understand why.The makers description says that the light is good for a music stand or for reading a book.The light is way too heavy to be useful for a book light. For being an LED light it is exceptionally heavy. The light not only has a heavy base clip, but the light itself is heavy.The light is so heavy that it collapses the music holder on my piano. This is because for the light to be useful you need to put the light on a pretty steep angle and pull it down towards the front of the sheet music - then the light tips over because of the weight.If the LEDs were brighter it would work from a further distance, but the LEDs are cheap and not very bright. Yes, there is two stage lighting, but the higher setting is in no way bright enough.I cannot imagine using this on a book. It is way heavier than any book I've read lately.Had to send it back.

EXCELLENT lamp! It runs wirelessly with three AA batteries, AC outlet (with the included cord and adaptor), or in USB port on a computer. The light has two settings: low and high. There is an effective difference between the two settings; low is relatively low, while the high setting is noticeably brighter and very strong. There is a very good spread of light...it easily illuminates 2-3 pages of music. The power switch is conveniently located on top of the lamp, at the back. The clip is strong and stays put on the thin metal of my Manhasset music stand very nicely. The base (clip) is also large and heavy enough (but not too heavy) to stand on it's own on a table for extra light while sewing, reading, needlework, etc. I was favorably impressed with the high quality of this light as I took it out of the package. It feels sturdy and well-weighted. It was also packaged nicely. I just received it, so I cannot speak to its longevity yet. Based on other favorable reviews, I would expect it to do quite well. By the way, this light is EXACTLY the same as the "Hallomall" model, also sold on Amazon. The price is also the same. I know because I bought one of each just to see. :)

Excellent light. For the price, you can't go wrong. It is built very well with a strong clip, and sturdy, long neck made of metal. The 9 L.E.D.'s are bright and clear. Strange thing about it though, is that the light is brighter running off of 3 AAA batteries than when it is plugged into the wall using the included 5 volt transformer with USB plug. I even tried one of my 5.4 volt adapters from an old cell phone, and there really wasn't any difference. It is still plenty bright for reading sheet music on the brightest setting and running off the adapter, but if you really want it nice and bright, then you have to unplug it and run off batteries only. I'm not sure why this is. Time will tell how long the 3 batteries last with intermittent use, especially on high power. If they last a good long time, then I will never use the power adapter.Anyhow, I'm am very pleased with its sturdy construction, and the quality of light it produces, plus the flexible neck is longer than I expected which gives you more options for placement and lighting angles.Overall a superb product. Already ordered a second one for a different application other than music.

Purchased to attach to a "lap desk". Have very dim lighting in room and this light helps with writing checks, reading correspondence, etc. Light has two settings, low which is fine for most tasks and high which is VERY BRIGHT! Works great! BUT, the base is heavy with batteries installed and that makes the lap desk a little unstable. I can't imagine using this as a book light, base too big and overall weight would make that very uncomfortable. Comes with an A/C adapter but you would need to be pretty close to an outlet to use since cord is so short. Battery life is unknown because I haven't used it much yet.
