Amazing Story about Island Survival -- It's LOST meets UP in the Bizarro World.
Just finished reading Tumor Fruit - and yes, the title can be a little intimidating - never mind the cover - but like most Carlton Mellick the Third Books, there is so much more beneath the surface that I can't even praise it correctly without giving away great surprises and details - suffice to say that if THIS were what LOST was about, I wouldn't have given up on it after three seasons. Tumor Fruit is the story of an island of survivors, stranded on an Alien planet that might have other castaways on it, from other planets. The main character of Peter, and his personal plight, his motivation throughout the book, is beautiful - and in many ways this is the story of someone living out an adventure in the memory of someone else. This is unofficially closest to the Bizarro version of Pixar's UP. It's funny, it's messed up, it's perfectly bizarro and if you're a fan of Vonnegut, LOST, UP and anything else Carlton has written - then I am beyond confident that you will love Tumor Fruit. One of the best things Carlton Mellick does, is paint a large world of many character and breathe life into each one, there isn't one character that I'd call one dimensional - even the villains have detailed back stories that cast them in a more understandable light. He has done this incredibly well in books like Warrior Wolf Women of the Wasteland, Zombies and Sh*t & Armadillo Fists (all three, amazing books!) but with this story, he does it in a subtler way, weaves them in and out of each other seamlessly, and with a much sweeter tone. It's crazy, and it's wonderful and I literally couldn't wait to see what happened on the next page.

Not Your Usual Castaway Story
Eight castaways end up on a mysterious island. The air is lethal, there are weird sounds in the wind, and never mind the things coming up with the waves. Carlton weaves a strange, toxic world like no other. Even when things are outlandish, you simply shrug it off because it really works with what is going on in the story. Highly recommend!

The Pink Pirate Planet........
This was another great gem for the bizarro master Carlton Mellick III. This time around we have the whole lost on a island theme however this time the island is a new planet that is in Earth's orbit for a limited time. One of the visiting ships from Earth ends up crashing and we are introduced to a whole slew of lost characters that only CM3 can make into great bizarro back story. I really enjoyed how you get to learn about each person such as he did with Zombies and S###. Also this is on par with that length wise so a big plus I know I enjoy his longer novels more. As always highly recommended and can't wait to delve into some more of CM3.

King Bizarro Carlon Mellick....
I gave this a chance based on some word of mouth. While it is well written and has a decent pace, it feels to me like its written more for a teen than anything else. Definitely hard R rated for the sex & violence, but still it feels aimed at something less than an adult audience. The book itself takes some strange and interesting turns along the way, and it did hold my interest, so there is that. I'd rate it more like 3 1/2 than a 4.For the adventurous only...

Always a ride
I loved it (per usual) but there was also some hard subject matter to get through. Probably shouldn’t have started reading it on a flight but... everything worked out just fine. Eventually.

Wow
This was a mix of bizzaro and Lost. The back stories were heartbreaking. The writing again amazing. Mellick turned the weird into beauty and his storytelling makes you not want to stop reading.

Strange, but entertaining
Fun book, nice pulp style read, interesting - not high literature but a good filler book between challenging reads.

Peter is not a lucky guy, with a trail of dead family members and the fact he talks to his deceased pyrate brother every day. Just when he gets tickets for the interplanetary shuttle to the wandering planet, his brother passes away, and he is forced to go alone. Luckily his brother is still with him inside his head.As always with CMIII he delivers a story that is genuinely original and with such depth that the madness makes a kind of sense. And so to continue, as the wandering planet slowly pulls away from earth, the passengers of the shuttle find themselves crash-landed on an island of poisonous proportions surrounded by an acid sea. Could things get worse? The survivors try and survive, with no food or water, but luckily one of the survivors has strange tumour fruits growing on her body you can eat. Unfortunately, she is mad as a hatter. At heart, a story concerning a brother's love for his closest kin and a little trip into his personal madness.Read the book to see how the story unfolds.
