White Dustless Chalk, 6-Pieces (DCC-6-W)

I tried several brands of chalk and like others have said it all depends on the chalkboard surface and the brands of chalk you have to find the right match. With that said Hagoromo is still the best chalk out there in my opinion and works well on all surfaces and now this brand Rikagaku (DCC-6-6C) is just as good. The pieces are thicker and do not fit in the standard chalk holders (have not not shopped for that item yet) this chalk is hard but writes very creamy and depending on the pressure used it runs down quickly you really only need to gently glide across the surface to bring out the colors.

I did not know chalk could be this good! I knew that I didn't like Crayola brand and I've gone through several liquid chalks and not found anything great. Then one day my husband told me about how he ribbed his friend who is a math professor about the "best chalk" factory closing and how hard it is to get good chalk. His friend said he didn't use that chalk, he used the "second best" chalk. So I texted his friend to get the name of it and here we are.I ordered both the best and second best chalk but honestly did not find them different from each other. HOWEVER from the first stroke of my T for Tina I knew that I would not be wasting any more money on second rate chalks. My chalking life is forever changed!The chalk goes on so smooth and silky. The colors are rich. The way it glides across the board even feels good. It's not scratchy and it goes on evenly. I was confused why it looked like it was wrapped like a cigarette with a filter so I asked the professor. He said that it was wrapped like that to keep the dust off your fingers. It's not completely dustless but it's definitely and improvement over Crayola.Just try it, you won't regret it!

The chalk was shipped in nothing more than an envelope—it arrived broken, with most of the pieces in a fine powder. I own the Rikagaku chalk holder, which I thoroughly enjoy using, but the chalk that goes with it is not at all durable. Even the sample piece of chalk that arrived whole inside the chalk holder would shatter whenever I tried to write something on the board. I'm a teaching assistant at a university, and I depend on my chalk to work. This product doesn't even hold a candle to Crayola chalk, which, for those of you who have used that abysmal product before, is saying a lot.

Each piece was broken. Packaging was a bit dusty and once opened it was a mess. Writes smooth but dusty.

This chalk is amazing! I bought this as I was tired of trying to discern what was going on when my professors were trying to overlay several plots on the same graph.I tried it out before doling it out. It writes amazingly smooth, the colors are easy to see, the coating prevents your hands from drying out like most of the other stuff, and most importantly, the colors erase very well; even the red, unlike Crayola.The yellow has very good contrast on green boards, much better than white.

I love the size of these chalk pieces. My son can use them easily and fit his hand perfectly. (He is 2 1/2.) The color on the board is very bright and comes off smooth. They are not dustless however and one was broken when we received it. I do like them however and will likely purchase them again.

I'm no mathematician, so I don't care that much about chalk. However, I do have a terrible chalkboard, and the crayola chalk I was using was scratchy and wouldn't stick to some spots. It was effectively unusable. I bought this chalk and the difference is night and day. It writes smooth and wipes off easy, and there aren't any spots where it doesn't stick. Now the crayola chalk feels like a burnt stick covered in glue and dirt. I haven't tried other brands, and now I probably never will. This stuff is great!
