Q: Should I get the high density or the memory gel?

Personally, I would get the high density foam, I have not had good experiences with memory gel/foam, it initially feels good but then compresses permanently. Although, I never had tried it in a chair cushion I have had it in an expensive contoured bed pillow and it only lasted 3 years. If you're going to the trouble and expense to reupholster a chair you certainly would want to last and look good for a long time!

Q: Is it actually 18" or is it 17.5"?

THE DESCRIPTION SAYS IT IS 2" X 18" X 18" SO IT SHOULD BE 18"

I don't know, I was only wanting 2 so I didn't pay attention. I did notice company had a lot of variety in pack size beginning at 4. They also had a lot of variety in cushion size.
