This is not your normal duct tape. This is used by experts to test the coatings to make sure that the coatings are adequate and done right: good preparation, applied properly, curing process proper done and whether there are any coating defects. This tape seems expensive when you compare it to other normal use tapes but it's a relatively inexpensive and easy way to test the coatings than many other methods. This seems like some pretty serious stuff. I'm used to testing with a razor blade and some masking tape. On the inside of the roll, there's a chart showing classification relating to the percent of the area removed. In the box is a full blown booklet with ASTM references, terminology, test methods, apparatus/materials, test specimens, procedure, and an illustrated diagram showing how to interpret the results. I'd say it's quite thorough. It's even wrapped in a non-stick card to keep the edges of the tape pristine.
