Highly useful and motivating
Found this book highly useful, a nicely laid out review of career theories and their uses. Excellent discussion on frameworks and building relationships with clients. Book is full of useful exercises. I also appreciated the portion on self care for coaches/counselors. My book is covered in notes now and items to dig deeper into.

Excellent companion for Careers Advisers and Coaches
An innovative book which I have found extremely helpful in my job as a Careers Adviser.Examining myriad Careers Theory and its evolving implications for Careers practice, the book has helped me to strengthen my academic grounding, as well as arming me with lots of innovative, interactive tactics and techniques for use in guidance sessions. As a careers adviser interviewing in schools and other settings on a daily basis, it can be easy to fall into lazy habits (caused by the formation of neural pathways, which, I should add, are skilfully explained in the book!), and to sometimes feel short on inspiration or freshness. Having read the book through once, I find it really useful to refer to it regularly, sometimes reading disparate segments to help re-couch myself in the language, methods, tactics, theory and practice of career guidance. This book is now a mainstay on my desk at work, and it helps provide me with confidence and assuredness that I can carry out effective work with service users.Highly recommended!

Incredibly useful!
I'm currently training to be a careers adviser / coach and have been doing my first work in both a University and school setting. This book has been incredibly useful, and continues to help me develop my approach. It has helped me answer questions such as: "How do I practically help someone make a decision"? And..."How should I structure a careers interview?". I've also particularly liked the section about giving using and giving information - and has helped me to remember that exploration and testing of clients' ideas is the first priority, rather than diving in and giving lots of information. Loads of practical examples and ideas for different situations. Can't recommend this highly enough.

An absoulte gem of a book, innovative, practical, insightful and helpful!
I would absolutely recommend this book to everyone who has an interest in supporting individuals to develop career management skills. One of the things I found particularly useful was the range and number of practical tools covered in the book. In fact I underlined so many sections and made so many notes on the pages that I may need to order a fresh copy! As a careers adviser I was able to instantly identify with the case-studies and this helped me to see how I could use the tools in my work with clients.

Disappointing quality
The content of the book is interesting and engaging for someone new to creative career coaching; however, the text in the Kindle edition is rife with typos, many of which are significant enough to completely obscure the meaning. For example, in a list of questions for the coach to use with the client to increase goal-setting motivation, you will read "What has to to current score?"; a few lines later, from a list of questions to be used with a client to encourage them to add detail to an image, "What are be to for achieved it?" This wasn't a cheap purchase; the quality should be better than this.
