Superb reproduction of tone, with next to no ambient noise, breath sounds, key clacks, etc. Lightweight. Great for performing in church or small recitals. Lets me add a little reverb through my amplifier, which imparts an ethereal, luscious beauty, especially to slow hymns or ballads.

This is a terrific flute mic and was quite easy to attach and is rock solid. Picks up all flute frequencies well. Excellent product.

First I will say the mike sounds great. What the issue is that the O-ring that holds the mike scratched my very expensive sterling silver Haynes flute. When I went to Audix they said the ring was modified or worn out or a knockoff. I never modified anything and only used the mic only about 20 times. They then asked me who I bought it from and I told them Amazon and the vendor was Express Music which is an approved vendor. Audix was very nice and is going to send me the correct O-ring. Now I will have to pay for flute repairs. Stay away from Express Music! I would give the mic sound 5 stars but since I have to repair my flute from an defective product I can only give 1 star. No problem with Audix only the vendor who shipped the product as genuine.

I bought this mic for my flute. It is a good microphone for the price. The sound is fine albeit a bit quiet. The mount is its main advantage and disadvantage at the same time: the mount is very cleverly designed and professionally done. It is the most unobtrusive of all the flute mic mounts, which are generally intrusive to the player as well as visually. The mount is secure and allows you to route the mic cable to the left waist, which is practical and convenient. Unfortunately, the way the mic is pointing to the keys makes it pick up key pressing sounds. This major flaw is a deal breaker for me.

While it would be faster to velcro a mic on instead of having to unscrew the end cap each set-up, it holds a lot more securely and solidly than the velcro-attached mic i tried out. Sound was great in a huge hall with funky acoustics. Very happy with it so far. Getting it into the clip the first time took a little doing, i was glad i'd read the instructions, had to take a little time to think it through. Other commenters have described the process, take the time to read and understand that.

The microphone itself is a great mic with great sound! Two drawbacks to the clip system: 1) the clip prongs (that you attach the mic to) are very stiff. It took me a long time to get the mic attached for fear of breaking the plastic clip. and 2) the ring that attaches the clip to the flute is not tight enough to keep the mic in place. It often slides towards the side away from the player so then the mic doesn't pick up the sound the way it should. This was remedied by wrapping a strip of paper around the flute under the ring to make a tighter fit.
