Nikon D5300 Digital Field Guide Paperback – Illustrated, February 21, 2014

This book is very informative. I learned more about my camera in the first chapter than I have in the three years I've had it. Look forward to see all the ways I can learn to take photos .

Very good way to learn using your Nikon!

I just received my D5300 as a Father's Day gift (nice kids, huh?). I ordered and received the book before getting the present and I'm so glad I did. I have used Nikon cameras for over 20 years and thought this book might be too basic. It's not too basic. There are many features on the D5300 that are not adequately covered in the Nikon manual (I have not bothered to see what's on the CD that was included with the camera). Furthermore, the book explains many aspects of Nikon digital photography that I never thought about. If you are spending big bucks for the camera, you need to buy this book. Also, buy the HB-69 Bayonet Lens Hood if you have the 18-55 VRII lens. Both of these items are relatively inexpensive and they will help you take better looking pictures.

I read the book cover-to-cover and it really helped this "old-school" film photographer feel much more confident in tackling new technology in the DSLR. I've been using a 'bridge' camera and had put off taking the plunge into the DSLR realm due to intimidation by all the complex menus and settings. After reading the Guide, I feel more comfortable using my Nikon than my Lumix 'bridge' camera. I particularly like the point-of-view of the writer, also a photographer, and suggested settings as well as the whys and hows. Well organized and written.

This book covers every minor detail of the camera function including optional lenses and filters. It is useful for any camera enthusiasts, from basic everyday users to professionals. I recommend this book for anyone using the D5300 camera. I was familiar with the model already, but learned a few new tricks for photography after reading this book, and I keep it in my camera bag for quick reference.

As pointed out by the author, camera manuals are not written by photographers, that's why buying Nikon D5300 Digital Field Guide is a good idea. The many functions of the camera are explained in detail in an a way anyone can understand, even newbies.Graphic layout is pleasant, all pictures are in full color and the book is small enough to fit any camera bag/backpack in case of need.Highly recommended.

Way more in-depth than the users guide.The user guid tells you what a function does. The field guide tells you how to use it. The principles around it. A must have if you are new to photography. Or old.

Arrived on time and perfect. Though I don't know if I would recommend this series. Not much more info than the manual, really.
